Not a lover of hot drinks (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by thursnov
Daily morning commute customer here. Always mobile order exact same thing about 15-20 minutes ahead of time (store can be busy, I like my sandwich to be cooled off, and my drink is always iced, so it doesn’t matter if it sits).

Mobile ordering is down this morning, which usually makes me skip entirely, but DT was short so I decided to feed my addiction anyway. Tall iced blonde Americano with a splash of heavy cream.

Got to the window and was handed a hot cup. Determined NOT to be one of the “I wanted this iced” Karen’s messing up DT times, I took my hot cup, tipped on the app, and moved along. I assume I can just add my own ice. It seems I’ve been spoiled by mobile ordering, but hopefully I’m not a Karen.

Honestly just be nice and tell us you wanted it iced! We make mistakes and I don’t speak for everyone but quality of drinks is important to me when I’m on bar. I quick “I’m sorry I asked for this iced” is the nicest way you could ask, it’s really not a problem especially when it’s our fault

I agree! As long as you are respectful and nice we don't mind remaking drinks. It's the customers who order something obnoxious or refuse to talk to us like people because they just want to spit out their order and drive away that are the most annoying. Because I would have made their drink right the first time if they weren't adamant about saying it as fast as possible.

We have no issue remaking drinks when people are nice about it! I know I’ve mistakenly made iced drinks hot, and I always make a quick U-Turn to remake it once I realize lol

I agree with everyone! The only time I get frustrated is when I repeat someone’s drink order back, specifying that i understand it to be a hot drink, they confirm, and tell us at the window they wanted it iced.

Honestly I've made the mistake of misreading the label and putting the sticker on a hot cup. When it comes back I definitely say 'oh yeah. sure does say iced on there!' and then pull shots right away.
