Just be honest. You’re over worked underpaid and the benefits don’t make up for the gap. They might try and work with you on a deal but keep you endgame in goal. Stagnation in Starbucks is commonplace nowadays. Best of luck !

I did exactly this and then ended up leaving the company anyways. I was much happier and more zen for the few months I spent back at Barista. If you're not happy and can reasonably afford the (so slight) pay cut, do it.

I transferred to a different store and stepped down. I told my manager I wasn’t happy anymore and it was taking a toll on my health. I told my new manager the same thing. My new manager tried to get me to stay as a shift but I kept saying no. It was better in the long run and yeah I took the pay cut, but I’m happier now then I was as a shift.
