ASM to Barista Should I do it?(self.starbucksbaristas)

**UPDATE*** I got the new job! I’ll be resigning my position Thursday at my PDP which I just found out will have another DM at alongside my current DM so that’ll be interesting
I was an outside hire ASM in June. I left 9 years of the financial industry in April and came to starbucks mainly because I needed a job and it sounded interesting. 7 months later and I don't really love the ASM role. I'm not making nearly as much, I feel like i'm constantly asked to work off the clock and not given enough time to do my job. My SM just ends up doing everything themselves because no matter what my way isn't good enough. I really do enjoy being a barista though. The ASM role is super hard especially with kids and the crazy random schedule.

I am expecting to get offered a job at a bank this week. It'll most likely pay me 7-15k more per year, and i'll have weekends off and never work later than 630 and paid holidays off. I have a meeting already scheduled with my DM this week and I intend to give them my notice that day. I kind of want to step down to a very part time barista to maintain some of my perks like 30% off, free coffee, spotify, headspace. Do you think they will be ok with that?

Wow to never have to work a closing shift ever again sounds amazing

The DM would probably be super annoyed at the situation. They invest a lot of time and money to train an ASM, But since you already have a job offer in hand, then they have no leverage over you. The worst possible thing they could do is fire you, and that's a nearly meaningless gesture in your situation.

Well I’m putting in my two weeks but am offering to stay as a PT barista

They might accept that so that they're no short staffed until they can hire someone else.

We have a partner that works 10 hrs a week, when she first started out of training she worked 1 of her 4 scheduled shifts and she’s still there! I think they will work with putting you on for 1-2 days a week

To be able to be very part time at Starbucks, you have to put in a decent amount of work before hand. For example, I worked there for five years, four different stores, and have done a lot for this company, even if they never notice. Finally I had a boss that did. I think it’s all going to come down to your boss, and if they let you go down to extremely part-time

We will see. If not oh well. But I think having me available to help will be welcomed

I hope so cause I’m in the same boat minus the positions but I’m waiting to hear from another about my start date then I’m gunna have to tell my SM I’m o my available fri sat and sundays cause I always want my perks and plus I enjoy my coworkers but in your case just pray for the best

I’d suggest demoting at a store that isn’t yours. That way you’re starting fresh.

I have a great relationship with my team I don’t think it’d be an issue

if you are going to make so much money, why would you work at starbucks just to get "free" spotify, which only costs like 10 bucks a month? is this a real question?

Shoot I forgot to also mention I’m in the process of paying off debt. So that is another reason
