do your stores pre-water-down the cold brew?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by etherealaqua
i worked at a licensed store for around six months and the way we did our cold brew was brew the concentrate in the big container thing, keep the concentrate on hand for 48 hours, and when someone ordered a cold brew, pour the concentrate to the bottom line on the cup and fill the rest with water/ice.
then yesterday i went into a starbucks and asked for a venti cold brew with only half water and the barista told me it’s already watered down and it wasn’t possible for her to do that. i tried to explain myself more thinking she was just misunderstanding but she insisted it was already watered down and i’d have to be okay with the regular cold brew.
was my store doing something weird in how we made the cold brew bc we were licensed (or just wrong)? was THIS store doing something wrong? was the barista just unhappy about my request? i’m a little confused and would just like to know, thanks!

hi! i work at a regular store: to make the kegs we use for the cold brew tap we have to pre mix the water. if you dont use cold brew tap/kegs i'd assume you would do it the other way and cut it yourself

oh okay that makes sense! thank you so much for explaining! :)

Licensed stores dont have the tap system, so, yes, we keep uncut cold brew in pitchers and cut it with water to order. Corporate stores w/o the tap system should be doing it the same way. Stores w/ taps pre-dilute it in the kegs.

I work at a corporate store and when we put the cold brew in the kegs it’s 5 litters of cold brew and 5 litters of water in the keg. That lasts for 7 days. If you look it up on partner hub that’s the recipe that they give us. So your license store hasn’t been doing it right.

interesting! also i’m pretty sure lisenced workers don’t have access to partner hub, sadly. we probably just did it this way bc there’s no way we’d go through that much cold brew at our “store”

That’s the beauty or cold brew lasting 7 days in the kegs so you don’t have to keep making it. And I would assume that corporate would have given you access to partner hub but that’s sad that they don’t

i don’t work there anymore so oh well i guess 🤷🏻♀️

Not all stores have taps. Some still cut CB as we serve it.

When I switched from BN cafe to starbucks no one thought to tell me this so I was cutting the already watered down cold brew with more water for soooo long lmao
