i told my boss that i was going to be starting school in january about a month beforehand and that i was going to need to cut hours. it took a while to get my schedule figured out at school but once i did i changed my availability and everything was fine. then come a few weeks later i notice out of nowhere i was being scheduled during my class hours. i told my manager about that, and we mixed up what hours i could and couldnt work, but i set it straight with him. still he said i had to find coverage. so i went off asking every single person at my store and going into a bunch of other stores trying to find coverage but being in the middle of a weekday, most employees not scheduled during those times were also at school so nobody had anyone to cover me. so i had to come in and miss school. it happened again and again and my grade is suffering (my overall grade in a lot of my classes drops 5% with each additional absence and so i’ve had to cancel doctors/therapist appointments and come into school ill/in bad circumstances to try to pass) and nobody can help me/wants to help me. my boss is awful and grumpy, he’s fired people over a lot less, so i’m at the point where i don’t know if i should just not come into my shift next time this happens, because i value my education a heck of a lot more than a part time job, but i don’t want to be fired because i’m living on my own and have to pay rent :/ are there any policies starbucks has that could help me here? or suggestions?
