Transferring (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by gaayrat
I think I already know the answer but is it possible to transfer from a regular store to a tarbucks?

Here’s my psa: (for not just OP but also for any curious possible transfers.) If Target hires you, please please be nice and try to work with the locations requests before “telling them how easy or terrible” everything they do is. I’ve worked my Tarbucks location for over 4 years now, and we’ve had AT LEAST 4 hires I can recall that were so mean, unaccommodating and constantly belittled my coworkers, especially the younger ones because they had corporate experience, and therefore felt more important than the tarbucks workers. I really wanted to like them, and tried to ignore the passive aggressive comments or refusal to use our trained practices. They all either ended up getting fired for poor customer service or quit because they didn’t like the workload and being by themselves so often. Also we only have a small discount, no free drinks or food or markouts whatsoever. Please don’t show up and whine about no free or super-discounted shift drinks. We of all people hate that policy.

Tip: Usually if you swing by the Target you want to work at, you can ask to directly speak to the Starbucks team lead when they’re working and see if they have any openings. We only have maybe 6 or 7 people on our schedule including that team lead, so there’s no point in applying if they can’t hire you. Once we had two people get fired at the same time and a girl from corporate happened to ask about a job and was able to get an immediate interview because we were so desperate for someone who didn’t need to be fully
trained, so you might luck out. The pay is great!

Hi I’m sorry to but in, but have you had issues getting hours at a tarbux?
psyche3090 1 points 3y ago
Personally never had any real issues, with Jan-March being the time when hours are hardest to come by. I usually get about 30hrs, with a mostly open availability, (and they’re good with my time off requests.)
Some busy times of the year there’s several of us with a solid 39 hour week.
Last few schedules posted have sucked with all of us getting about 20-25, but someone is always willing to give up hours. I also think if I made a stink about my hours, my manager would work with me more. If i’m reeeeeally desperate, I can pick up shifts on registers. I’m done with working retail so I choose not to pick them up. We also share a pizza-hut cafe area, and some of us are cross trained and can pick up some easy hours on their side as well. Normal target team members can get really screwed on hours, we seem to be pretty good in our specialty area, but the trade off is sometimes two people go on vacation and there’s like... only four of you working, stretched thin every day and no one to switch, but it’s usually manageable.

That sounds so annoying. I definitely wouldn’t be that person. But thank you for the advice! I might stop by today and ask. & yeah, the pay is my main reason for wanting to work there haha. It’s so much better it’s ridiculous

It’s target employees working...so that’s why you have to apply to target
