Incompetent SSV can't handle... anything. (self.starbucksbaristas)

I'm very new (been here a month) and so therefore hesitant to speak ill of someone I've only worked 4 or 5 shifts with, but our mid-day/PM weekend SSV is absolutely not fit for the job and keeps proving it every time we work together.

Most of the time he's hiding in the back washing dishes or "taking inventory" with a headset on that he ignores completely. No sense of urgency or priority. No delegation skills and no adaptability. He just follows the play book and doesn't really understand when things need to be changed due to circumstance.

Yesterday we had a call out and were absolutely slammed in DT and cafe. 4 partners total including myself and SSV, plus a new hire who can't even run CS by herself. SSV is hiding in the back washing dishes. Both baristas have been on bar for hours without a break. I'm running DTO, DTW, finishing frapps, and DT ovens. One of the baristas has a breakdown and has a panic attack in the back (which I don't blame her for; she was overwhelmed with no help and drinks wouldn't stop for a second). I try to take her place to get drinks moving (DT isn't moving at all because drinks aren't being made!!!) and SSV comes out to tell me that I should be on DT. I basically told him that he can either help run bar or I was going to do it. He shrugged and went to the back again.

What is the point on being on DT if the order I'm waiting on isn't even being made because there is no one to make it? The line was snaked around the building so no one can order until my window order got theirs.

I barely see my SM so I'm not sure when or how to bring it up, but we ALL suffered because of his lack of giving a shit and the poor girl who had a breakdown basically cried on the floor the rest of her shift. No one deserves this.

Hey Former SSV,

when I worked for the company my SM advised me that if something like this was super urgent to you and your fellow partners to send a group text to not only your SM but your DM as well, voice your concerns and go from there. I don't know though how your SM is with text messages but I mean,

That SSV should absolutely be dropping everything to go and help out their barista's especially if its not something super dire to that they are doing. Our job when running CS is to make sure that everything is basically stocked, and customers are happy, and how can we make customers happy, by getting their orders out to them.

Personally, I'd be texting my SM and asking to set up a one on one to voice it out.
