So I have an interview this Thursday at noon to be a barista! Any advice? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by VerucaGotBurned
I really really want to work at a Starbucks. Right now I work in a pizza shop and I have some other food service experience. Lots of customer service, and lots of professional cleaning.

What kinds of questions should I expect?

How should I present myself?

I'm *very* interested in their healthcare but I'm not sure if I should bring that up?

Also everything else, I'll take any information you can throw at me.

Update: Just had the interview today, it lasted about an hour. I may have asked them more questions than they asked me, but I got both of my interviewers laughing and telling personal stories, both work and not work related, and I feel like I engaged really well.

So they didn't say I'm hired, but they did say they were going to background check me and explained the process of starting a new employee.

So I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch but I feel like it went great and I'm hopeful. Thank you to everyone who gave me advice.

Update: Got hired.

Questions are pretty much standard interview questions. I would wear something nice, but not too done up (dress like you're going on a date to a local restaurant type deal). And interviews are, imo, the most important time to ask questions so ask away. You got this!

They'll mostly ask you about situations and if/how you have handled them in the past at other jobs. There will probably be some questions about why you want to work for the company, and that would be a good opportunity the talk about the benefits, the managers thinking is that if you are tied to the health care package you're less likely to turn over, but be sure to mention how much you enjoy the warmth of the environment every time you come in to that particular store and how you think you could contribute to it in a positive way (now's the time to boast your love of customer service lmfao). Good luck on your interview :)

I say expect to get asked something like “what would you do if you have a bunch of customers asking when will their drinks be ready while you’re working or drinks” or something like that.

they'll ask you to share some customer service stories, like I got asked "tell me about a time where you helped diffuse a situation with an upset customer". mostly just make a good social impression! try not to be nervous. it's really not too bad, and if you seem cool under pressure, that's definitely a plus! you'll do great 💙💙
