Thank you for replying! The lady who was a substitute delivery driver for the linen company my store uses says she works part time at a krobux and that they get free drinks but have to pay full price for food. She has worked there for 2 years at krobux. She told me that I’ll make more money there but it’s a much smaller scale operation. I was looking specifically at a midwestern chain called Meijer. The Meibux I guess I can call it has no sandwiches and only the cake pops cookies and loaves and a very limited amount of beverages. I was told before on here that my corporate store could fire me if I worked PT at a licensed store which sucks because it’s literally the same shit

Meijer isn’t affiliated with Kroger. Fred Meyer is though. I decided I probably won’t try a licensed store after reading these replies, but maybe I’ll work 2 jobs. I just don’t get paid enough but I do enjoy my free food and drinks and I have amazing coworkers. I also thought about how great my tips are. I got $72 yesterday which is apparently very high

I work at a meijer BuX and we get one free drink a shift and meijer employee discount is 10% meijer brand groceries and 10% on general merchandise as well. I love working there but it is not without some of the pitfalls people already mentioned. Ours has sandwiches and all the same drinks except blonde espresso and nitro.

I work at a licensed store in a local grocery chain in Michigan. Our baristas start above minimum at $10 an hour, you make $11 if you’re trainer certified and I make $12 because I’m a trainer and the assistant manager. Our Starbucks is considered a department in the store and my manager is the head of the department and makes more than I do (probably 15-17 an hour but I’m not sure). With tips it’s basically like making your full wage sans taxes taken out. The downfall I would say to working at a licensed store versus corporate is that often times you have a smaller area, we have a kiosk, and can only comfortably fit two people inside. This means that there’s usually only two people working I.E. one person does bar (hot, cold, frappe and oven) and the other does register and drip coffee brewing/pour overs. You have a lot more responsibility and I typically work 5-3 hours alone when I close and you’re alone 2-3 hours if you open. It’s not difficult AT ALL once you are trained properly but it can be quite stressful essentially running a full ‘store’ by yourself or with one other person. My location is typically very slow past 5pm but can be incredibly busy leading up to 5pm. We have lines out the door at least once a week depending on weather and events like holidays, the super bowl was apparently very busy though I wasn’t there so I’m not sure if I would consider it extremely busy. The benefits however are that licensed baristas typically have higher wages and your store is less busy (obviously situationally). I would say that it couldn’t hurt to try out a licensed store, you might enjoy it more and make more money! It is definitely dependent on the company that licenses the Starbucks and the location.

Thank you so much for your reply. Do you work at meijer by chance? I know they’re based out of Michigan and I’m in Indiana. Reason I ask is that meijer by me said that in that specific location that baristas start at $13 nd other stores its $10.50. Maybe they’re desperate idk. I am not sure how busy they are but I assume on weekends that they are busier

I work for spartan nash, they do D&W and family fares! The only bad thing I’ve heard about Meijer locations is that they don’t make tips which is most likely why they offer such a high wage! Also I’m not sure if all locations don’t accept tips, or whether or not Indiana has a higher or lower minimum than Michigan. Licensed stores aren’t bad though! Might still be worth checking out :)
