No, OP should not have. The customer clearly stated they wanted a chai latte. Customers can be difficult but you still shouldn't deliberately make the wrong drink for them or make it incorrectly.

I'm not raging out at all though - all I said was to not deliberately make someone's drink wrong. The "sarcasm" wasn't obvious. There's a lot of crappy baristas that will do something like that. "tHeY wErE rUdE sO tHeY gEt DeCaF" type partners.

Dunno about other stores, but so many people come through my store and when they get their drink they realize they forgot to say “iced”, so we just go ahead and ask to reduce remakes.

Yeah this is what I was trained as well, as the 'by the book' almost everything comes hot by standard. Buuut... Yeah. People are stupid. If I didn't ask I would have several dozen more remakes in a given day.

I’m a big believer in training our customers. they get mad that they had to wait for us to remake it but maybe the next time they’ll say what they actually want. The only time I’ll ask questions is when it’s nondairy milk and the drink comes with whip. You don’t go to McDonald’s and complain that they didn’t ask you if you wanted pickles.

Although this is very true, my partners on bar get frustrated with me for not asking when they have to remake it. We work in a mall kiosk, too- so it’s crazy at all times.
