Preface: I am in school in the evenings full-time STEM masters and I had about 3 hours of sleep each night for the past three days (I have a midterm tomorrow). I was surpsingly cheerful and energetic this morning solo on bar during peak. I was grabbing a cold brew off the tap and I filled it a little too much. I usually just tip a little out, put on the lid, and handoff as normal. I realized my muscle memory got the better of me and without missing a beat I tipped the extra contents of my cold brew straight onto the floor, placed the lit, and handed it off to the customer who saw the whole thing go down and gave me a weird look and walked off. I greeted her nicely and thought nothing of it until I turned around and noticed cold brew all over the floor. I realized how tired I was and it all hit me at once the rest of peak.

This was me the other day casually putting the iPod in the oven with the tongs. Luckily I quickly realized the bacon goudas still on the counter. No damage done.

I once threw ice into the trash can during peak. Not as weird but still made me stop and think.

Earlier this week I dropped a container containing Veranda blend beans on the floor trying to brew more for a guest. I was alone in the store (tiny kiosk store, very understaffed) so I just stopped, looked down at it, and started tearing up. Thankfully we had more, and the guest was patient and understanding, but I was so embarrassed and overwhelmed. He saw me the next day and I apologized for my behavior. He said I was doing my best and that’s all that matters.
On a lighter note that’s more suited to the OP, I once was in such muscle-memory mode that I put a slow roasted ham n Swiss BACK in the oven, in its hand-off bag. What.

Just curious: what branch of STEM masters are you in that isn’t paying you enough to quit the siren? The big argument I get from (some) engineering grads for not entering industry straight away and getting us to pay for their masters is that they will be paid enough by their grants.
