Hey everyone I start working at starbucks on the 18th and just wanted to know how everyone likes working here and what the biggest perks are and what the biggest down sides are? Or just let me know how you like working here ! :)) thanks, i’m just nervous and want to know how everyone likes it or doesn’t like it.

The only reason I still work here is for my coworkers bc I love them. Hopefully your store isn’t like this but I constantly don’t feel good enough because it seems like every shift the manager drills it into everyone’s head that customer connections are life and death lol

Honestly I'm a big fan. It's a great start especially for a younger person. I know a decent amount of individuals on this subreddit are not big fans and that it is situational usually based on coworkers, managment, and location but it is also what you make of it. Hope your experience turns out just as great!

Biggest perks are free college, health insurance at 20 hours a week, and unlimited free coffee! Downsides are just that it can be stressful but every job has its moments

Do you get free coffee even when your not working??

I guess he thought you said free college.

The free coffee is unlimited free drinks 30 mins before, during and 30 minutes after your shift. So no, only when you have a shift. Technically depending on SM I’ve seen and heard, a few baristas still markout their free drinks when not working for the day. Just note that this could catch up to you eventually and result in a termination.

You also get one free food item(could be a salad... could be the cookie) during your shift.

Otherwise you get 30% off all drinks/food/products if not working.

Of course this is all for corporate Starbucks, which hopefully you are, and not under a third party like Target or Kroger or Barnes n Noble and etc.

But to answer the main question, it all depends on ur SM and coworkers. Starbucks is a VERY close-knit place to work and they can either make your life miserable or awesome(or both if you have a split in worker personalities)

If you maintain benefits eligibility and are working on average 20 hours a week, you are eligible for taking courses at ASU online to earn your first bachelors degree
