So our store was understaffed tonight during happy hour. Spent most of the closing shift playing catch-up, restocking, and making sure the store wasn’t a complete disaster for the openers. That being said, we obviously left a lot later than we were meant to. 45 minutes to be exact.

This means that my 5.75 hour shift turned into a 6.30 hour shift. I know after 6 we’re supposed to get a 30 minute break, but I only got a 10 because of the original schedule. I’ve never been in this position before and I’m hearing different opinions on what to do. I kinda want to just leave it be, but what do you all think?

Hey shift supervisor here! I’d let your SM know and tell them that it may require more time on Thursday’s and that if it is going to be a happy hour, you’re happy to work however, a 30 would be appreciated. If you have those shifts often and nothing changes, contact your DM or partner resources

Depends on your state. For some states it is required you take a meal by a certain time. For example, CA requires a meal before the 5 hour mark or corporate can get in big trouble.

CA Partner: For CA specifically there is a form you can sign recognizing that you chose to waive your required lunch for stuff like when you skip lunch to leave early on a five hour shift. If OP really just wants to put this all behind them than that's something to consider.
