Does Starbucks even get anything from Happy Hour? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by KellyQellz
It feels so strange to me that it's still a biweekly thing. Baristas hate it, sufficient labor for the sanity of partners isn't provided for a lot of stores, and as far as I know in my store, because it's BOGO, we honestly don't even make much better profits. What do they even get out of it, honestly?

People order a TON more that they normally would. So the free drinks in a specific order cancels out all the EXTRA drinks ordered that wouldn’t have happened without happy hour, if that makes sense. More profit happens for promos. It’s Business 101. For example... to make it specific—-in my store, we have someone who comes in every happy hour and orders 14 fraps. (Don’t even get me started on how annoying and customized they are!) BUT She doesn’t do it unless it’s happy hour. So we give her 7 free drinks, but it’s 7 drinks she had to pay for that she normally wouldn’t do. If that makes sense? Corporate wise, it’s that and not specific to any store. (Yes we all suffer because of it....) but it’s all about that 💰💰💰

Another key point of this is that the cost of one of these drinks is equal to like 5 (not an exact number) but giving away 3 for the price of 1, they’re still profiting. They’re in no way losing money selling 2 Frappuccinos for $6 instead of 1

Every happy hour I close and when I check the customer report we aren’t making really much more than we would on an average Thursday so it really isn’t worth all the suffering

This is the point I was raising but I understand what others are saying. At my store we legitimately make significantly less money and it's the worst headache ever to work on that day. There's no point to ever doing it in terms of profits.

Yeah seriously, like yes the amount of customers is way more but it’s so defeating to see that all that headache didn’t even pay off in sales revenue

God; we can’t even do happy hour as a licensed store, but we get a lot more people coming in just to ask and leave 🤷‍♀️

They get hype from it, I suppose?
