grande rant... (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by [deleted]
i have been working here on and off for three or four years and i genuinely don't know why i continue to come back every time. the first time i worked here, i was wrongly fired with no warning and was told corporate couldn't do anything about it. the most recent time, it took forever to reapply and get back into the system and my paycheck was withheld for nearly a month... in the middle of the holiday season... i have been trying to transfer since last month and my dm didn't approve it, saying i shouldn't be in the system anymore because i am away at college... so now instead of just being able to transfer to a store where i live- after finding out it's the ONLY one hiring- i have to go through the entire reapplication process again and wait even longer. when my dm could have just approved it and i could have started right away.

can someone please slap some sense into me? i love making coffees and talking to people and the environment, but i don't understand why stuff like this continues to happen and i continue to work for this company... sorry i just dislike capitalism and i'm irritated happy tuesday folks

I worked for Starbucks for years. Every day I asked myself “how the fuck did this company get this huge?” The coffee is definitely not worth the price you pay as a customer. The vast majority of “leadership” is an absolute joke. All they care about is making money, that is why most complaints a barista has are ignored. No matter how valid. I worked at one of the highest volume stores in my region. We got a new manager, and to this day I wonder how she has kept her job. I was in the back and looked at the camera feeds randomly and saw her looking through the tip jar. Pulled out my phone and started recording. She stole cash out of it and I reported it. Nothing happened to her and I started being scheduled 8 hours a week for over a month. It’s not capitalism’s fault. Starbucks is just run by shitty humans. (Yes I know there are good ones too)

Some times dms have friends in specific places. My old roomie had lots of trouble transferring and whatnot due to her filing complaints about her store manager. they create a file on you and your career at Starbucks and judge you off of your profile. It’s because it’s corporate.
