Shoutout to the night crew! As an opener this is one of the best things to come it to! All the prep is set out and dated so it’s so much faster getting everything done in the morning. (i.redd.it)

Holy shit if this was my store and I did this as a closer I'd have a whole team of people trying to kill me.

We make and date ALL the prep. Inclusions to sauces and mochas

SAME!!! Like if one thing is not stocked we get a whole note about it in the DRB lol
Astraterris 15 points 3y ago
Ha yeah our store does all that stuff at close. Openers would lose their minds if they had to prep anything other than coffee and pastry case.
Lilium816 4 points 3y ago
Why are openers so lazy 😂
Astraterris 8 points 3y ago
Eh they have to get up at like 4 am and deal with morning customers. We all have our burdens.

I've worked opens and closes and mids, as a barista and as a SSV. Opens are not difficult. I don't know about other stores but the excuse of "waking up early" is lazy and shows a lack of work ethic. As a shift I would always wake up with plenty of time to make myself breakfast and have a whole part of my day before work. Just because it's 5am doesn't mean you get to stand around and twiddle your thumbs because "it's early" I've had to bust the fuck out of my buns at 11:30 pm as a closer, never once hiding behind the excuse of "its late"

Yuuuup! My stores super slow after 7, were expected to have everything set... only 2 partners total
Lamar-JacksonSzn 11 points 3y ago
Shoulda wiped the fridges too! Lmao jk 😅😅😅
the_senor_cardgage 2 points 3y ago

AYO WHO THE FUK CLOSED LAST NITE?!?
Ladylillianrose 9 points 3y ago
Yeah everything is prepped the night before, super cleaned and set up so that openers just have to start everything up and set it all out. It's why we constantly try to make our SM understand that having an extra closer for certain days *cough* happy hour *cough* is necessary.

Good luck we never have enough coverage after 4pm its ridiculous.
chinita_doll 2 points 3y ago
We prep everything at close. We even set the teas and iced coffee with date dots on them ready for them to just brew the next morning! Lol

Openers don’t really have that much time to be prepping, they are on a time limit /:

But really happy to see that your store helps out your openers like this!! My old store, closers never really did much.. things weren’t even restocked or cleaned lol

Some stores get hit hard as soon as they open. Some stores probably have a solid 30-60 minutes before peak truly hits. All depends on volume.

My store does prep work all day long, as needed. There are no back ups for days. But that's just how *we* roll. The only thing AM doesn't do is make cold brew because of the time it would be ready.

I hate seeing how much tension there can be between am/mid/pm. Soooomething has to change if it's that bad.

Yeaah, most of it stems from people working only one daypart, ever, so they don't see the work that goes into the others or know how to even set up the transition better because they don't know what the next daypart needs. If one of the openers starts pulling the "who closed" or "the closers didnt do their job" I follow up with, what didnt they do? Can we do it right now? Or, were they new? Was it a weaker team that we can carry as a stacked opening crew?

Ah, yeah, our whole store is a cycle if the openers don't pull their weight it flows to the mids who either pull it too or fall behind, which flows down to closers who feel obligated to stay late to catch up or go home and leave stuff for the openers.

Thats so true and some partners have never even met because of the day parts they usually work! I couldn't imagine not knowing who several people are that work under the same roof as me lol

this is a nightmare. usually everything that can be ready is ready whenever i close. and if i open its the same way. we just have to start everything up and get the brunt work done. our story always has plenty in the morning to accomplish with maybe 5 minutes to spare to mentally prepare and i usually grab a protein bar.
