Hey y'all - just wanted to make this so there's something at the top of the sub to make things pretty clear!

This subreddit is intended to be a space for Starbucks employees - while the main sub, /r/starbucks, is geared intentionally to being a more open, accessible space, this one is NOT. It is still a public subreddit for right now, but it's sort of expected that this is a platform for employees to vent, share, and discuss what they like. Customers are FINE here, however, **Customers, be warned.** This is not intended to be a third place and if you are here to attack baristas, they are not upholding any "company standard." If you are a customer and have a question or have thoughts about the company or a store you were at, take it to the main fansub, /r/Starbucks!

---

I want to keep this subreddit extremely laid back. Like, extremely laid back. So, I'm only keeping three rules around:

* **Don't be a dick.**

I mean this as in I don't care if you disagree and bicker, that's on you. But I do ask that you not take it too far. When it's derailing into discrimination (hateful slurs, nasty gatekeeping, etc), or personal attacks, I'm going to try to catch it. There's enough shit to deal with without needing to add to it on the internet as well!

* **Don't share** ***images*** **of internal resources/documents.**

This is a place for employees... so go nuts talking about whatever you want. New drink tastes like ass? Sure! Returning drink is exciting? Go for it! But no *photos* or *pdfs* of internal media. This includes but is not limited to: recipe cards, now brewing, weekly updates, Beverage Resource Manual, Store Operations Manual, Partner Resource Guide, company memos, and PPK. The images are definite grounds for termination if you're reported to your SM or DM, so cover your own ass.

* ***Don't share personal information.***

This kind of falls under "don't be a dick" in that seriously, don't doxx other users. There's no justification for that. Censor usernames if you're calling someone out/sharing a tweet/whatever. Censor full names, store numbers, addresses, *partner numbers*, and please don't *ask* for peoples' information. A big culprit for this is receipts!! Your store location, number, and your partner number are at the top of them -- make sure it's not in the picture OR you censor it!

---

Outside of those three, I don't really care what happens around here. I've been getting a LOT of people reporting threads for talking about new drinks, so I felt this was necessary just to hash out. This is **NOT** the main subreddit! This is for *you.*

Lastly, I do want to open discussion on what else happens here. With this being primarily targeted towards employees, would y'all want an FAQ here? Some sort of compendium of employee information? Let me know - yes, I do lead a sad enough life that I do still remember much of the information and/or still have it somewhere lmao and I know how ass this company is at ensuring all employees are kept in the loop. Pitch ideas at me, I'm open to thoughts!

As always, my DMs are also always open, and you can $1 I have set it up so I do not mix this subreddit with the other one, especially now that I am primarily on desktop rather than mobile - that has been a problem in the past and if you were caught in that, I'm sorry!

---

##EDIT

Some of y'all are taking the gatekeeping insanely far. This subreddit is **still public** so yes anyone can post but there is no need to tell *everyone* who isn't a barista to fuck off. And shout-out to whoever is abusing the report system to report every comment where someone says "I'm a customer" or "not a barista..."

Customers are welcome to get involved, but it should be completely understood that if you are contrarian you **will be shut down.** Nobody is here on the clock to do brand management... We're all here because everyone needs a soapbox sometimes, and it's nice to be among similar people.

This is hands down one of my favorite subreddits. It gives me strength knowing that there are other baristas struggling with the same bullshit from the company, from customers, and from partners that I am. Thank you for allowing me to vent uncensored and unashamedly here, it really helps.

Thank you! And honestly as a noob I would absolutely love to see some information archives on here to keep us all in the loop.

we love an FAQ

A sidebar/faq with important employee resources such as ethics and compliance, PRSC, and EAP numbers would be great as well as informing employees that these resources are open and available to them without fear of retaliation if they have serious concerns about management not living up to the mission and values. These resources are grossly underutilized and cause many partners to suffer under less than par leadership. Many partners don’t know their DM should be accessible if they have concerns and the other resources Starbucks offers them to utilize if their environment is not creating a positive for them and their fellow baristas. Wish I knew that they were available a long time ago. If something doesn’t feel right speak up.

What document states your DM should be accessible?
NOTcreative- 1 points 3y ago
It’s in your new partner handbook, missions and values, ethics and compliance, along with the fact that their card with their phone number and email is probably in your store.
Bleys087 1 points 3y ago
Thanks, I’ll take a look. I’ll have to find a new handbook, was hired in 2017. Just wondering where the document was in case I ever had an issue so I could show my DM if they chose to be difficult. Documentation is one of the only effective defenses we have against shitty management here at Starbucks.
NOTcreative- 1 points 3y ago
I would urge you to give your DM the benefit of the doubt before loading up your arsenal. If they end up making themselves inaccessible to you then showing them documentation isn’t going to do much. That’s when you call the ethics and compliance hotline. DMs are responsible for all partners well being that are in the stores of their district, not just the managers.

Can we get some user flair in here? Just wondering if it’s something you’ve considered
StormTheParade [OP] 2 points 3y ago
I am considering it! I just got my home office set up and will be able to put much more effort into stuff here. I have a surgery this weekend and I'll be OOC for the weekend but otherwise it's a work in progress!!

Do we want genuine user flair or like....memes?
Tidal_wavves 2 points 3y ago
I think meme/pun flair based on genuine roles would cater to both options.
StormTheParade [OP] 2 points 3y ago
😊 can do! I have a couple in mind already but if you have any ideas, let me know!
