More money = more incentive, do you agree? (i.redd.it)

Ye for sure. But to be fair the min wage in my county is 14 $'s an hour.
tragicalyhappy [OP] 20 points 3y ago
But is that just to keep up with the cost of living in your area? Don't get me wrong, $14 is nice but if everything else is pricey where you live then it doesn't make much of a difference.
hellopie7 10 points 3y ago
I pay rent under the table to my landlord in her house. So yeah sales tax is a butt, but my rent is only 600 so I'm pretty sure I'm fine with 20 hours a week from Starbucks then 16 hours from my other job a week. B)

Dope dude, respect the hustle.
Alang453 1 points 3y ago
Are there ways to find out how to do this for example asking you , obv the landlord or maybe online other than reddit, tryna work smart yktv?
dodofishman 9 points 3y ago
The one in mine is $7.25 🙃
hellopie7 2 points 3y ago
Tfw when you make double the amount of your friend :c <3

I currently get $15.02 and I started in October of last year. Idk why tho the min wage in my area is 14.25
AndrewtheRey 12 points 3y ago
I get paid less than $10 an hour and everywhere else pays $11-$14 in the area. I don’t want to leave Starbucks because of my disabilities being accepted and not judged but I barely make any money here
tragicalyhappy [OP] 1 points 3y ago
Damn my dude, that's a real struggle. I recommend you to pro/cons your situation and see if it's worth it or if you're better off somewhere else.
AndrewtheRey 3 points 3y ago
Well I’ve been fired and had my hours cut at a lot of places because of my disability and I don’t receive SSI, so I’ll have to see if they accept me for who I am.
tragicalyhappy [OP] 2 points 3y ago
Wait.... you've been fired because of your disability!? Isn't that like a type of discrimination? Which you can follow up with legal action? I don't want any details but one good thing about Starbucks, that will never happen to you in this company.
AndrewtheRey 4 points 3y ago
Yes. It isn’t legal but they will say that “I Am unable to perform the functions of the job”. At the grocery, it was because I have trouble with eye contact and making conversation. Chick fil a was due to not being “enthusiastic” enough (they cut me to 6 hours a week to cover their asses). Construction was because I “couldn’t grasp basic concepts” and “did not follow safety procedures” even though they pretty much handed me tools and told me to drill a bunch of stuff without any instructions and I had a tic and fell off the ladder. I also have arthritis in the knees and a permanent lower back impairment due to a work injury as a truck team/custodial job at a Olive Garden and I can’t lift over 40 pounds safely and that didn’t sit well with Panda Express. I actually chose Starbucks because they allow trans people to use their preferred name/pronouns so I thought maybe they’ll treat me fairly despite my disabilities and I was right. The manager is very accommodating. I am not transgender by the way, but since the company respects them, that is why I figured they’d respect my disabilities.sorry to go on so much

My assistant store manager told me if I work harder to get more customers in the door we can afford to hire more workers. We are literally the busiest store in the district and easily make the most $$$ out of everyone else. I was like ??!!
tragicalyhappy [OP] 3 points 3y ago
Yeah, ASM sounds like an asshole. Sorry

I can relate.
colonade17 3 points 3y ago
In my location baristas earn about $4 more than minimum wage, and my SM keep telling low performing partners that they can go to Wendy's and earn minimum wage if they don't want to put in more effort here.
tragicalyhappy [OP] 4 points 3y ago
That kinda proves my point. If I got $4 more than the average minimum wage you bet your ass I'd work harder. Sadly that is not everyone's experience.
colonade17 3 points 3y ago
Agree completely. One thing the mastrena IIs show is that Starbucks is really trying to squeeze the most they can out of workers with little to no experience. You need almost no skill at all to work the new machines. I can see the next generation of machines having a button to select the milk type and the size and you don't even have to hold the pitcher.
tragicalyhappy [OP] 3 points 3y ago
LMAO, I can see the next generation of machines including a touch interface for the customer and being completely automated to make drinks by itself. Thus eliminating the need for human baristas or a person on P.O.S. Kinda like McDonalds or Quickcheck...
