They ended up getting a matcha water and said it was what they wanted and that they didn’t understand the confusion of asking for a matcha lemonade with no lemonade...
GreenTourmaline1352 points3y ago
People are so dumb. This is irritating me more than it should probably!
LaurdAlmighty15 points3y ago
I believe in a competition our customers would win for most stupid
Smooth-Seas7 points3y ago
Maybe so she wasn’t paying for a custom tea? But isn’t it the same price at that point?
[deleted] [OP]7 points3y ago
I’m pretty sure they’re the same price, the lemonade might even be more expensive but I’m not sure
GaggleGuy75 points3y ago
The dumbest moment I had like this was 3 years ago at my first store TLDR "grande in a tall please."
Karen: I would like a grande vanilla bean, but put it in a tall.
Me: You mean the larger one right the venti?
Karen: No the tall one.
Me: You talking about the Trente? The biggest cup we have.
Karen: No I would like my grande vanilla bean in a tall.
Me (genuinely confused at this point): Ma'am just so I get this right I don't mean to be rude. You're asking me to take a larger quantity of something and put it into just 1 smaller container? Not splitting them, cuz I can do that to.
Karen: I just want one drink.
Me: ....????
beccaboo2u31 points3y ago
Reading this just spiked my blood pressure
spent3x16 points3y ago
What did you end up doing? That's madness
GaggleGuy7 points3y ago
I ended up just charging them for the grande like they asked and gave them the tall like they also asked. That way when she came back to say that she ordered a tall but was given something else, whoever read the receipt/situation would 100% understand what had happened.
brigglite898 points3y ago
It’s moments like this where your inner customer service rage spikes and you just want to make it in front of them and let their grande cascade out while your filling their tall cup. 🙃😭
coffeeslinger200051 points3y ago
I mean, at least they aren’t ordering a cup of water with matcha in it expecting it to be under a dollar
TinyItalian29 points3y ago
I would have handed her a cup of ice with matcha scoops in it... because our lemonade is already mixed with water... so like... all that’s in there is lemonade and matcha... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
pleasesurpriseme18 points3y ago
(The matcha lemonade is half lemonade and half water)
TinyItalian16 points3y ago
Guess we’re making it wrong at our store lol
pleasesurpriseme9 points3y ago
Whoooooops
Glittering_Concern11 points3y ago
Wait is it really???
pleasesurpriseme2 points3y ago
Yup!
extracrunchies13 points3y ago
I thought it wasn't with the new lemonade?
SurgeQuiDormis7 points3y ago
Lemonade is a concentrate that we dilute to the right level. If you have a drink that's half lemonade half water, you use equal parts diluted lemonade mix and water.
BoltedGates1 points3y ago
That makes total sense, unless they ask for no lemonade? Lol. I get it, it's just a funny way to order.
SurgeQuiDormis2 points3y ago
If they ask for no lemonade you use just water... Just a chai no water you just use milk. I'm so confused 😂
crzyshiba23 points3y ago
The other day I got a matcha latte iced but with no milk and 6 scoops of matcha,,, I’m like ok $4.25 please haha
SurgeQuiDormis16 points3y ago
So just.. ice and matcha?
crzyshiba2 points3y ago
Yup
SurgeQuiDormis7 points3y ago
People are weird
SurgeQuiDormis4 points3y ago
People are weird
tobette12 points3y ago
The other day we got and order for a hot chocolate, no mocha, no vanilla, no whip, no mocha drizzle. .........
[deleted] [OP]4 points3y ago
???? What did they end up with?
JonFawkes312 points3y ago
A cup, lid, stopper, sleeve and hot 2% milk lol
[deleted] [OP]7 points3y ago
So a flavorless steamer? What the heck
JonFawkes37 points3y ago
They could’ve just done this at home and saved 4 bucks lmao
macroetc3 points3y ago
This happened to me a few weeks ago when someone mobile-ordered a hot chocolate with no mocha nor vanilla, somehow thinking that it would turn out as a white hot chocolate????
kiervince2 points3y ago
my girlfriend and i got into an argument cus i asked if she wanted mocha drizzle on her hot chocolate and she said “no mocha is coffee” i was like...okay.
hummusheads7 points3y ago
I had somebody get mad at me when she said they wanted a mocha with no coffee, so i said “oh a hot chocolate then?” and it spiraled from there. Most days I don’t even try anymore.
Koalastars0093 points3y ago
Same! It amazes me how at least most of the customers I get, have no idea what they’re buying.
PM_YOUR_TOTS5 points3y ago
i recently had to explain to a woman that her steamed milk with caramel drizzle was, in fact, the same thing as the latte with no espresso and caramel drizzle that she ordered.
she acted like i was the dumbest person alive until i told her that “ringing it up this way saved her money” and then she just looked at me with no lights on in the attic and walked away.
send help.
qctheqc5 points3y ago
Would have given matcha powder and ice in a cup. Have a nice day! 😁
diamondaquapearl3 points3y ago
I recently had someone order a hot chocolate but with no chocolate. So I replied with “so a steamer?” And lord, he got all kinds of pissy with me. “No, I want a hot chocolate with no chocolate! I’ve ordered it a hundred times!” I eventually had my ssv come over and it turns out he wanted a white hot chocolate. People are idiots.
notascoolasmyhamster2 points3y ago
Had a customer request a peach green tea lemonade but just the peach - the peach is a syrup I explained this and she was like yeah ill just have the peach. Wtf did she want just a cup with 4 scooshes of peach syrup???
[deleted] [OP]1 points3y ago
Our peach is a juice. We don’t have a peach syrup where I’m at???
notascoolasmyhamster1 points3y ago
Ours is just a bottle of syrup🤔
[deleted] [OP]2 points3y ago
I’ve never encountered that. Are you not in the US?
notascoolasmyhamster2 points3y ago
Nah UK
JoyousDivide2 points3y ago
Had someone order a tea latte with no water yesterday
[deleted] [OP]4 points3y ago
Some people like how the tea tastes when it’s steeped in steamed milk, idk I personally don’t like tea
JoyousDivide4 points3y ago
I like it like that but it said iced but no water no ice
RegularFrappuccino1 points3y ago
It’s cheaper than A custom tea latte?
[deleted] [OP]1 points3y ago
I can’t remember tbh
LotsofLuck89-15 points3y ago
What drives me crazy is the people who order an upside carmel macchiato. Why don't you just order a carmel latte. Either people are trying to sound more smarter than they are or they don't know what they are ordering.
abigail308734 points3y ago
well i mean they’re different drinks because the caramel macchiato doesn’t get the caramel syrup. to order a caramel macchiato upside down you would have to order a vanilla latte with one less pump of the vanilla syrup and add caramel drizzle (which ends up costing more because of the surcharges on the vanilla and caramel)...
GaggleGuy8 points3y ago
Tea
nobullshitplz15 points3y ago
You’re not making a caramel macchiato correctly if you think caramel syrup goes in it
ChrisKReyes13 points3y ago
I always legit made it upside down. If you put the shots and the caramel at the bottom and then ice it would all you to then pour milk on top without mixing it. Then vanilla pumps on top. I would get so many looks from customers who just wanted a a mixed Caramel macchiato...but boy was I petty in my last year at Starbucks...
Lunatics_Apprentice6 points3y ago
It got explained to me like that by my asm! So yeah, upside down is upside down.
pinkshadedgirafe5 points3y ago
I did the same!!
joeanneahhh7 points3y ago
Or they don’t want to use straws to mix their drink. I mean most Starbucks I’ve gone too have gone strawless.
Glossyy2 points3y ago
You don't know the difference between a caramel macchiato (whether upside down or not) and a caramel latte and you want to complain that you think people are trying to sound "more smarter". People can't "know what they're ordering" if the person making it doesn't even know the drinks!
LotsofLuck890 points3y ago
Yes I am still learning how to bar, I don’t know every drink, it is annoying when customers make long complicated request that could be more simplified. Another customer orders a “Ice coffee with no ice”, sigh.
Glossyy5 points3y ago
I get being new and still learning. But really an upside down macchiato is just putting the ingredients in a different order. Ive taken to getting mine upside down at stores that dont carry straws because at least then it tastes better. Now those damned frappucinos from feedofbuzz and the like, those can go to the firey depths of hell if the customer comes in and is entitled about getting it. If you dont know the recipe i cant make it. Lol
kiervince2 points3y ago
thats another very common drink though? they just want more coffee than you would normally give them. we have an “iced black tea, no ice no water, two cups of ice” guy at my store.
