Just keep calm and cool, they probably start you off on POS and DT. Then they’ll probably have you start doing tea/ refreshers and frapps. Then when it’s slow they might show you more how to do hot drinks. But remember to ask questions, your fellow baristas are there to help you, we all want to make sure everything goes smooth. It’s better to ask and make the drink right than to not and make it wrong. And don’t worry about rude/upset customers there’s gonna be a lot and they’re not worth getting upset. Also it’s good to broaden your horizons and try different drinks and food, just so that way when a customer asks how one taste you don’t say “oh I don’t know”

Welcome! (:
And my advice is, to always keep learning. And be prepared to be coached.. a lot haha. Well not really, just friendly reminders. Don’t take it to heart when you first start, the partners that been there the longest just wanna make you into a better and strong barista in the long run. Always take that opportunity to learn and grow. You’ll be coached a lot on making the drinks properly for like a month or two.
I have a few advices (:
- If you are unsure on how to make the drink, you can always see the ingredients on the register lol! It’ll tell you how many shots of espresso is needed and what type of milk and syrup goes in that drink.
- If you have nothing to do in your station that you’re assigned because everything is clean and stocked. I strongly advise to help your fellow baristas who may be in need of your help, even tho they didn’t ask.
- When you’re first put on register. It might get over whelming at first because there are too many buttons on the screen, and also the customers tend to customize their drinks and order it to you so fast. Don’t be afraid to let them know that you are new and apologize for the delay. I messed up so many times because the buttons were so many and the customers would talk so fast when ordering! But over time, you will eventually get used to it. And it’ll be a piece of cake, and you will be able to do it in your sleep haha.
Additional Info
[ Espresso Shots ]
Tall (12oz) - 1
Grande (16oz) - 2
Venti (20oz) - 2
Venti Iced - 3
Americano/Flat White Drinks get an additional shot. Except the Flat White is with Restreto shots, rather than regular espresso.
[ Syrup Pumps ]
Tall - 3
Grande - 4
Venti - 5
Venti Iced - 6
If a customer requests Blonde Espresso, the pumps will be 1 less. So for example, Grande Hot Blonde Vanilla Latte, instead of 4 pumps Vanilla, you will only do 3 pumps because of the Blonde Espresso.
- Steam the milk first, before you pull the shots. Because after 10 seconds, your espresso shots will die out. And it’ll taste bitter/sour/harsh.

try your best, you will be really overwhelmed for the first couple weeks and it usually takes people two months or longer to memorize how to make all the drinks. ask questions if you need help
