So we have this customer named Billy (3 shots, 4 pumps white mocha, light cream, venti ice cup) who comes through our drive like every day right. He’s not much for talking like at all and is not really an asshole, but he’s kind of a jerk if you know what I mean.
I’m usually always stuck in drive for whatever reason and on this particular day we are pretty slow in drive because it’s like the tail end of peak, someone ordered a venti pour over, and a whole bunch of other mess is going on while I’m running around like a chicken with its head cut off cause I’m not only DTO/DTR, I’m getting food left and right, and also trying to help with cold bar drinks
When Billy gets to the window, I kid you not, this man literally asks “so since I waited so long don’t I get my order free? It’s been like 15 minutes” and I’m just taken aback cause I haven’t even said hello to him yet, and I go “ummm... nooo? no, I don’t think that’s something we do?” Cause I’ve never given an entire order away for free like that. He then proceeds to tell me “well do you know how long I’ve been waiting in line? 30 minutes.” And at this point I look at our TIMERS and it had literally just hit 9 minutes on his time (nothing to be proud of in the least, but bro this man is just trying to play me) and I legit look him in the eye and go “no sir you have not been in like for 30 minutes. We have a timer.” And that was literally the end of the convo and I sent him on his merry way
PS I would have 100% given him a recovery card, but because he tried to pull a fast one on me I 100% did not

I have a woman who pulls this garbage if she's been waiting longer than two minutes in line.

This is perfect. I love when people say they ordered something X minutes ago when we have systems that tell us exactly when they ordered. I look every single time. Im never proud of it but i always do it

We get that b.s all the time and I always assess the situation based on wait time vs. attitude.

at my dt store people often wait hella long like 15 min before they get to the speaker but once they get there and the timer starts theyre out within like 3 minutes. so while out timers say its been 3 min, it could be closer to 20... its often just people in line not pulling forward.

I mean obviously we were busy, our drive thru is tiny and often trails out of our parking lot, so he 100% could see and tell we were running slow, but even so he still chose to wait in line and get his order
He didn’t get the $4 card cause he was rude about it, not because of anything else
Not saying what I did was right, but bro I’m not gonna be talked to that way and then give you something I don’t even have to give you lmao

Had a regular at the counter try to get a free refill on hot chocolate. For one, I let you order while sitting, second you know there isn't free refills. My coworker told you 5 minutes ago. People are strange.

Maybe he waited 21 minutes before he got to the box 🤷🏻‍♂️ that time isn’t factored in right?

at that point it’s all on him 😂 our drive is set up weird where once you pull in and order or someone pulls up behind behind you, there’s literally no way out but to go all the way through, so if he waited 21 minutes before even getting to the box that was a decision he made on his own lmao

Same with ours ;( it’s rough during rushes with not enough partners but it all boils down to them choosing to wait in the line out to the highway 🤷🏻‍♂️
