I once had a guy that was $2 short and he was like “oh you can’t pay for it? I see you have cash right here” and proceeded to take $2 out of the tip jar. Like boy bye. I told him those were our tips and he put it back and walked out.

Someone tried to pay the other day with a chuckey cheese coin 😂

Were they trying to be sneaky? Or did they basically say “use the tips for my balance remainder?”

They just tried to grab a $1 bill from the jar and I was like "I'm sorry. Those are our tips." And he was like "oh okay" and smiled at me and took out a card. It was a really weird experience. I'd like to note that it was at night not too long before closing

It’s possible (but unlikely) they thought it was like one of those “Leave a Penny;Take a Penny” type things that some stores have for when you’re short on change. But I doubt it.

Oooo, that makes sense. The tip jar isn't labeled as "Tips" or anything.

They know exactly what they are doing but they act stupid in hopes that they can get away with it. We've had a lot of customers do that. It's obvious it's a tip jar not one of those "take a penny leave a penny" plates without you guys having to label it as so. 🙃

Cause as per company policy were not allowed to.

That's scum if I've ever seen it

Multiple people have done this at my store. I totally get if you make a mistake for that give a penny take a penny type thing, but when I tell them I’m not going to use it on their order because it’s our tip money they instantly go on the defense.

Ummmm sir???

We have to take the dollars out of our tip jar and put them into the drive thru jar due to the abundance of homeless people stealing them.

take a penny made sense before everyone started using cards. i used to think i would never want to, now i hate cash. i carry change so i can tip. conveniently acquired from my cash-loving parents :P

Mixed messages can we lable the tip jar or no ??
Hereloff6 points3y ago
We label ours, usually make cute drawings on it lol
sandycat5555 points3y ago
We used to draw on it, but our DM said to stop. It was distracting or something.
hollydayze9 points3y ago
Yeah. Heaven forbid you want to draw someone’s attention towards a tip jar for your underpaid employees.
