I had to make someone at the drive thru an iced latte with steamed milk (self.starbucksbaristas)

like she wanted normal iced latte proportions but she wanted the milk steamed
the person on DTO double checked with her over the headset but I didn’t even make the drink until she came to the window so I could personally confirm that’s actually what she wanted

Um. No. I'd have made the hot latte, and extended a glass of ice. No way I'm serving a health hazard to you without a warning.

Hot milk will melt the plastic. Also mixing the steamed milk and ice is a breeding ground for bacteria

That’s actually a health hazard. So while we always say yes to customers for whatever their hearts desire, steamed milk over ice is one of the few “no”s that we have to give due to the possibility of a foodborne illness.
