A waste of time really (self.starbucksbaristas)

So I had this customer come in through drive thru and order a venti dark roast with steamed Almond milk and one Splenda. My partner chimes in over the speaker (even though I was on DTO) and asks if she wants a Café Misto. At this point I had put in the order exactly how the customer wanted because I know they can get picky. The customer repeats the order again in an annoyed voice and my partner continues to explain to her what she’s ordering is a Café Misto, goes over to my computer and changes it to a Café Misto. In the meanwhile, I’m getting annoyed because the partner is making the customer irritated, and I will have to deal with that when they get to the window.

Mind you. The partner was arguing with the customer for something that costs the same price either way you charge it.

that’s not a misto though. they could want an inch of steamed almond milk and charging for a misto is criminal

I don’t get why steamed milk is free though? From a labour perspective it doesn’t make sense imo.

But I might be bitter because half the people who want their milk steamed complain when I don’t give them a misto...

My store has a rule that any drip or tea with steamed milk is a misto, because even if they just want a tiny bit we have to put a certain amount in the pitcher for it to steam properly. So we're throwing away the same amount of milk even if you're not getting it half and half milk and drip/tea. So, we've been instructed that hot milk = charged as misto.

Honestly that makes sense. Steaming exactly 4oz is a pain so it almost always ends up with almost a misto amount of milk anyway

That bugs the crap out of me when people go over my orders. I would of said something

Omg it happens all the time in my store. I don’t like DTO in the mornings when I work with certain partners. I just tell them to not wear a headset.

the ONLY time another partner should chime in to the customer in drive thru is if the person on DTO looks clearly confused. like when they give you that loooook. otherwise stay off my register. please. thank you for coming to my ted talk.

That’s the kind of thing you save for when the customer is in store and you’re not busy.

That’s just straight up not a misto. It’s a common thing to ask for.

If the customer said they wanted drip with half steamed milk that’s a misto

Ugh I HATE this! This guy I used to work with would get all pissy if someone ordered a "medicine ball" or "cold buster" and would ALWAYS chime in "you mean a honey citrus mint tea?" Like it's not that big a deal and it just confuses the customer, just let them order their stupid fucking drink and we can all move on with our days

We once had a guy come through drive and read the recipe for the medicine ball to us. My shift was on dto at the time and tried to tell him four separate times that it's not a secret menu item anymore. He still went ahead with all the steps of it. Sometimes the customer just wants to be confused.

I had a former partner that would try to “correct” me in front of the customer. Had someone order a mocha cookie crumble with decaf shots. He runs over and asks if I offered the cream base instead. Uh no, because she told me she wanted the taste of coffee but without the caffeine. So would you kindly fuck off and let me help my customer? K thanks!

Are you supposed to charge for the milk if it’s steamed for a hot coffee?
lillyloveswriting [OP] 1 points 3y ago
Technically yes, because there is a button on the register for it but I know a lot of partners that don’t do it.
coffeeslinger2000 2 points 3y ago
My district operates under the 4 oz rule. What button are you talking about?
lillyloveswriting [OP] 1 points 3y ago
It’s where you find “cold milk” I believe.
