Sir that’s not an Americano (self.starbucksbaristas)

So it has been almost 3 years since I last worked at Starbucks, but there are always those customers/orders that you remember. Some are great and I miss talking to them everyday. And some... some just make you wish you never stepped foot into the customer service world. This customer falls somewhere in between.

So this dude was a regular (until I corrected him) but I never ran into him cuz I was a closer until my last year of college when I became an opener. At the time, the other opener was my manger or my friend. Both aren’t confrontational and they were scared of the store manager (we worked inside a grocery store). Our store manager at the time lived and breathed the statement that “the customer is always right.” He gave out freebies a lot. Anyway my friend and manager didn’t want to deal with the store manager and the not-an-americano customer only came in twice a week every other week.

This guy shows up and my friend tells me this is the guy ordering a flat white or a latte as an americano. My friend says that when they try to correct him he gets angry and makes a big deal about it.

So this dude comes up and I’m on register and he ordered an Americano with steamed whole milk instead of water with 3 pumps of sugar free vanilla. I ask if he means a latte. He says no cuz he wants milk not brieve.

So I give him the definition of a latte vs an americano. He says that he always orders it this way. I tell him sorry our district manager has been cracking done on misorders and inventory (not in true).

So he grumbles and says fine. So I ring him up for the drink to which he starts to complain about the price and “why is it so much higher?!” To which I explain again that lattes are more expensive than americanos.

He eventually tells me to just give him an americano with cold whole milk instead with the syrup. He didn’t look to pleased when he drank and he never showed up again.

It doesn’t bother me anymore except when I see people give customer service folk a hard time.
