I HATE that tiktok girl for doing this to us(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by delidoll
I’m so tired of these fucking tiktok drinks. Frappuccino’s already take years to make and you can’t sequence them so when someone comes in with a frap with 37 different customizations everything slows down. These people don’t even tip too. Like I’m just so tired of it. And the trenta juice bases no water no ice??? stop it. Do people not understand how bad that messes up our inventory just so they can make it at home. I get it’s our jobs I really do but holy shit. The customer culture at starbucks is getting out of hand. The entitlement I mean. Idk I just sound bitchy. It’s just when everything slows down we catch hell for it from other customers and it’s not good. ANYWAYS. Have a good day everyone.
quarterlifepos165 points3y ago
In casual conversations when “secret menus” come up I make sure to inform everyone that there is no secret menu, just annoying customers. (if I knew them well enough I’ll usually say asshole customers to get the point across).
As for the trenta refresher, our store just stopped allowing it. That’s BS. If you measure it out it is the same amount as 3 refreshers for the price or one. We never got any push back.
coffeeslinger2000110 points3y ago
Corporate is like, “we don’t sell drink components” then stop literally allowing it??
ianbz21 points3y ago
Right??? Like this one man who gets a trenta black iced tea no ice no water no lcs... that’s half the keg
RestingBaristaFace108 points3y ago
Idk how filming those on the floor is allowed. Like go clean something if you’ve got so much free time.
fallinginnow61 points3y ago
some stores, mainly if its a lobby store, have waaay low traffic, i had. an old shift who used to talk about her old store being so slow that everything was always done and clean so they would do things like have a frap contest just so they wouldnt die of boredom. Not gonna lie theres been some days where my store is so slow i wanted to make a tik tok drink, but a joke one where i blend a sandwich or something absolutely disgusting just for fun
the1noir36 points3y ago
An egg and cheese protein frap. Yum.
fallinginnow13 points3y ago
now you’re thinking big brain lol
jokillyourself12 points3y ago
whenever we’re bored (usually closing shifts) my cool shift gives me random pastries to blend into fraps. only good one so far was a brownie frap
jackissosick10 points3y ago
To say the brownie frapp slaps is an understatement. Also if you make a vanilla bean and sub milk for the evolution orange juice, its an orange cream frapp and its awesome
fallinginnow3 points3y ago
im taking notes, these sound good af
fallinginnow6 points3y ago
we did a lemon bread one once, not bad at all
jokillyourself8 points3y ago
ur talking to the #1 lemon loaf hater
theedandy3 points3y ago
Coffee cake frap is the most overpowering sensation I’ve ever had
Patriciawhack1 points3y ago
I just hope everyone here is actually sanitizing their blenders after, it’s suck to send someone into anaphylactic shock
always_hungryy2 points3y ago
I don’t think it’s possible for a store to be so slow there is nothing left to clean. I think my store would have to be closed for at least a few days before getting there. And I clean litterally every break I get but then again my store is understaffed about 8/10 days
27lonelyeggs9 points3y ago
I think a lot of people do it on their breaks
RestingBaristaFace-4 points3y ago
They why are they on the floor with their aprons on?
27lonelyeggs13 points3y ago
You’re telling me you’ve never been on the floor during your breaks or when you’re not working
RestingBaristaFace-13 points3y ago
No. Especially not while filming myself on my phone.
sammieduck694204 points3y ago
at my store, there’s always a slow period we can i stand and talk to each other for a minute. it can get pretty busy fast but when one person leaves, everyone clears out at the same time
miked19121 points3y ago
I used to work in a Starget/Tarbucks and there is literally nothing to do once all of the tasks are done, so I’d just make interesting drinks and as long as they were tall, I didn’t get in trouble. Now I work in a very high volume and there is literally no time for experimentation, but the shifts are less boring.
official_koda_70 points3y ago
Also hate customers coming in asking for something like the “birthday cake” Frappuccino like the hell we know what that is.
gothoneybones33 points3y ago
See stuff like the cupcake or the lemon bar used to be on the menu and we still had all the ingredients for them, so I had no problem telling customers that it wasn't on the menu anymore but I remembered the recipe (with a BIG reminder for them to remember the recipe in case they order it from a newer barista).
Shit like the "Twix Frap" can fuck off though lol.
cactusbooties18 points3y ago
lemon bar frap slaps like hell ♥️💛
Tidal_wavves11 points3y ago
Tf is a lemon bar frap 👀
gothoneybones18 points3y ago
Like a strawberry frap, but sub lemon juice for strawb puree (not a lot tho, just to the ridge on the cup) and VB powder instead of classic.
It's really good with lemon juice concentrate instead of diluted and sub whole milk for coconut. 😁
Kyenne_Pepper12318 points3y ago
I thought that used to be a real menu item at one point
the1noir25 points3y ago
We did, vanilla bean with hazelnut and we had a special pink powder that we would use to make whip cream so we would have pink whip.
fallinginnow54 points3y ago
I never minded people who get the bases in the cup because if people wanna act a fool and use all of our product, thats on the customers. I dont mind just telling people we’re out of something and if they have a problem then we tell them another store might have that. As for the fraps tho, thats what makes me irritated, people really think they’re being so clever and unique getting this drink off tik tok even though the past 5 people got the same, and its not even a drink that tastes good. It wastes our time and half the time they get mad about it anyway
agentdouble1s19 points3y ago
At least the bases in the cup only takes a few seconds 😂 I try to look at the positive.
chrisjames27719 points3y ago
I’m starting to train on drive thru since our store is getting one and I’m afraid to ask this, but do people actually come up to drive thru and order these godforsaken tik tok drinks...?
GoldTurds-25 points3y ago
& they say the TikTok drink name, not the starbucks drink name plus modifications, AND DRIVE AWAY.
chrisjames27714 points3y ago
You’ve got to be kidding me🤦🏻♂️ god I’m going to miss being a cafe only store😭
ghastlyghostie10 points3y ago
or worse: "I WANT A TIK TOK DRINK"
like excuse me which one of the 30,000 abominations unto god are you asking for
"IDK I JUST WANT THE DRINK FROM TIK TOK"
GoldTurds-3 points3y ago
Then they open it and the video is litterally a explanation telling them how to order it 😂😂 like fuck kid..
ski3027 points3y ago
Yes. A lot.
chrisjames2771 points3y ago
Ugh noooo😭😭
tragicalyhappy18 points3y ago
Anybody remember the rainbow drinks?...When I thought it couldn't get worse, oh how naive I was back then...
agentdouble1s11 points3y ago
I was happy that Starbucks aleast made them menu items and gave us the recipe.
Now remember the OMBRE versions???? I told customers that those were hard to make. Which they were. I never got the layers to work right.
tragicalyhappy6 points3y ago
Yea and ultimately they're just gross.
radpandaparty3 points3y ago
Pause, dont you talk about my ombre
Tidal_wavves17 points3y ago
The fraps are annoying but as long as they know the recipe I don’t necessarily care as much. But what irritates me the most about the trenta refresher no ice no water thing is that, to me at least, it seems like just a shitty ass way to steal product. That’s how it’s being “advertised” by these tik tok kids. “How to trick Starbucks and get FREE drinks” like they’re not doing it cause it makes them happy or whatever they’re literally just being cheap and trying to get extra product for free. Like OP said, it’s frustrating to constantly run low or out of product for customers who actually want to purchase the actual drink because some high school kids wanted three grandes for the price of one trenta. Like it’s not that serious, just buy the drinks like any other person. It makes me mad because most of the customers who come in and do it know exactly what they’re doing and they feel superior knowing they’re basically stealing product from us and that just makes me feel some type of way
I_love_you_drugs2 points3y ago
The worst ones are grown adults who should know better. I hate that they always phrase it like they’re sneaky and clever for doing it but we all know exactly what they’re doing. it feels demeaning that on top of the fact that many customers treat me like I’m just an interface between them and their drink, they think I’m stupid too.
Tidal_wavves2 points3y ago
EXACTLY! Feeling demeaning is exactly what I’m talking about. Like they’re trying to pull one over on us. Like tbh I could care less about Starbucks losing extra product but it’s the way the customers feel entitled and superior when they order their drinks this way and giggle the whole time like they’re children. It just makes me angry
I_love_you_drugs2 points3y ago
I’ll be honest I have made “disappointed” eye contact with guests who act like this. Like they get through their whole order and I’m chipper but then they ask for no ice. I think “well maybe they like it to not be so cold, the ingredients are already chilled after all” but after the person on bar hands them their drink and I overhear them ask for two grande cups of ice I just sort of look over at them like “come on, man, we’re both better than this”.
[deleted]-11 points3y ago

Tidal_wavves10 points3y ago
There’s no way to charge for extra base on a drink that already includes base -.-
[deleted]-6 points3y ago

Tidal_wavves8 points3y ago
I feel like this was a venting thread and you’re taking it way too literally and seriously. Like...I still make the damn drinks, doesn’t mean I have to like it
Twentysixounces16 points3y ago
My favorite company conspiracy is that Starbucks knows full well what’s happening and have supported it actively for years. I’d even say that the whole Ariana Grande “partnership” was a full disclosure moment from the company saying this is exactly what we are planning on doing in the future so get used to it. I fully anticipate (and kinda assume already happening) no name “influencers” getting paid by Starbucks to push these stupid drinks out social media as to bring their nitwit followers into the stores to piss away there $6. Much to the chagrin of partners behind the line I’m sure it will get worse before it gets better.
leopardsocks9 points3y ago
Totally agree. It’s infuriating. They don’t even know if it’s going to taste good/what it’s supposed to taste like because they’re just basing on some dumb video.
MatchingColors8 points3y ago
I am expecting mega backlash for this but I’m gonna say it anyways:
Why do people care? At the end of your day, does it really matter to you that you had to make a custom frap? Or that someone got a trenta cup of base? If it makes them happy then fuck yeah! I’m just surprised that people care so much about their minimum wage job.
Love you all still
Also I wanted to clarify that I do care about my job and take it seriously. I work very hard and am proud of it, but it doesn’t bother me if someone wants to get something weird.
delidoll [OP]30 points3y ago
It’s a huge inconvenience. I clarified that I know it’s my job and I think we all know it doesn’t matter but when we’re selling all the bases to some of the most popular drinks to a few people and we have to tell people who are just trying to get the regular version of it that we’re out it’s annoying for everyone. And as I stated before you can’t sequence frappucinos and half the time these people come in during peak when we have a line out the door. I get it’s our job to make people happy and give them what they want but when it’s constant it gets annoying and this is sort of what this is for right? like venting about our jobs to people who understand? I got yelled at by a customer the other day because we’ve been out of the strawberry açaí base for the last few days because of one girl who comes in everyday in the morning and gets three trentas, no water no ice. We literally had to have somebody be put just on cold bar and the two on hot bars on peak and ignore the CS role (which is vital) because a group of middle schoolers came in with like six of these tiktok drinks. It’s obnoxious. I’m glad you feel the way you do but I can’t relate lol. This is fast food at the end of the day and people aren’t treating it like that but expecting it to be quick. I’m irritated and I feel like I have a right to be.
aisecherry10 points3y ago
Nah you right man. I actually love this job overall but whenever I'm having a bad time at Starbucks it comes down to customers being dicks, being inconsiderate of people working and of other customers, making scenes in the lobby, ordering shit in weird ways so it comes out a little cheaper---entitled as fuck attitudes on some of these people and how can I NOT care when people like this are literally making my job more difficult and more stressful when they do that shit? I agree that maybe a more detached attitude would be better or healthier or whatever but my bloods a-boilin' sometimes and I think it's a really legitimate bone to pick. Act right! Who raised you! Jeeeez
kqs133 points3y ago
Whoever is doing the order at your store needs to up the par of strawberry acai! If she is coming in regularly, it should be taken into account and more should be ordered, as long as it is rung into the computer properly. All the tik took drinks are pretty annoying though for sure!
astivana10 points3y ago
Custom fraps can be annoying to make, and throwing off our inventory with cups of base can cause us to run out early and have to deal with irate customers who, for example, can’t get their strawberry açaí/pink drink.

HipsterWhistle1 points3y ago
I agree with you entirely. I just like to make people feel good, and I really enjoy this job for that reason.
Alohomora4207 points3y ago
I don’t understand why this has become so normalized for Starbucks but not other coffee shops. I feel bad asking for the minimum customizations when I get to the coffee place in my college. I can’t imagine someone going to coffee bean and asking them to put a chocolate chip cookie in their frapp, or any of the other dumb ass shit we get asked at Starbucks.
mxs42357 points3y ago
Make the moment right really created monsters.
SteampoweredClock6 points3y ago
I just straight up tell them no lol
packers15032 points3y ago
Why is it bad to ask for a refresher with no ice/no water ? Not trying to start a riot just really wondering. I always see partners on the sub stating how corporate doesn’t give a shit about them, then why should you give a shit about how much stuff gets used up? At least that’s how I see it, as a non-partner
delidoll [OP]0 points3y ago
dude have u read the thread...it’s been mentioned at least 6 times i feel lmao
packers1503-1 points3y ago
I’ve done it a few times (asking for no water / no ice) but Bc I like making mixed drinks with it. Do I see a problem with it ? Not really.
delidoll [OP]4 points3y ago
you didn’t answer my question and I didn’t ask for your opinion on it...I’m glad you feel the way you do! I don’t feel the same way though. Glad we settled this like adults.
MunchDamonMunch2 points3y ago
From the UK here. The only way we get away without having to make any of these drinks is by saying that its only an American thing and that we dont have the ingredients to make them. Not too sure if it works for anyone else around the UK but that works 100% of the time for me here!
heartashley2 points3y ago
When people come in and ask "I want the tiktok drink" and I'm like ???????????
Although, when people started getting the dried fruits blended with stuff...... It's pretty good........ But definitely a pain.
AndrewtheRey1 points3y ago
So I brought the no water no ice refreshers to my store managers attention and she really fucking says “well our customer connection scores are low right now so we need to just do what makes the customer happy” and I’m like ffs are you serious? I am so sick of customers walking all over us because corporate allows it. And no 14 year old girl paying with a $20 her mom just got her out of the ATM is gonna do a survey anyway.

Commas are good for you.
Also: you sound like you could use the sort of drink Starbucks doesn't serve. You need a break, man.
HipsterWhistle-1 points3y ago
I personally enjoy making custom Frappuccino’s and really like interacting with the customers that come in and are super excited about this new drink they found. I guess I’m in the minority.
delidoll [OP]31 points3y ago
u want a cookie bro
HipsterWhistle5 points3y ago
I do love me some cookies.
AcademicArtist9720 points3y ago
I only like it when it is slow, and I have time to interact with the customer. What I don't like is when people come through the drive-thru and say, "Can I have a blah blah frappucino," and then get upset when I say I need a recipe or when it is not exactly how the picture looks. I especially don't like it, if it happens during peak. Otherwise, I don't mind it.
different_as_can_be1 points3y ago
this is where i’m at too man. if i have the time, i’ll make your specialty frappuccino. and i’ll make it as good as i can. but, if you come through while we’re super busy, don’t order correctly, and get upset it doesn’t look like it did on tik tok, then i’ve got beef. but i have to say, i’ve tried and made some of those frapps during slow times when stuff is done and man these people are smart? some of them are honestly really good.
giantechidna11 points3y ago
See I enjoy making fraps, making them look freaking adorable and giving someone their little treat for the day.
But tea lattes make me want to jump into a volcano, everyone has the thing that gets them. So my partners know that I'm always down to make their frap, so they'll help me start those tea lattes. Takes all kinds, the best baristas I know hate fraps, and that's more than ok, that's great!
