PLEASE STAY IN FRONT OF THE BAR (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Elven_maiden
This woman mobile orders 2 frappucinos during a rush— one white mocha frap and one regular mocha frap.

I start sequencing and prepare my frap roast and milk for both. She COMES BEHIND THE BAR and is like “Oh, are these different?” AND KNOCKS OVER A CUP, SPILLING THE MILK EVERYWHERE

Like BRO.

What was she looking for??! It’s not like she knows how to make them so like why come BEHIND MY BAR to check when it’s literally my job to make your drinks?!

I would have happily answered any questions she’d had had, please stay in FRONT of my bar and out of my way!!

I had to clean up her mess, make her drinks, and deal with the rest of the rush. I was soooo maddddddd omg

What the actual fuck? Why can’t people just act right?
Elven_maiden [OP] 29 points 3y ago
She barely apologized I was like are you serious

I once had a guy try to reach over and fill his water bottle and I said, oh I’ll get that for you (in my head I was like, don’t fucking touch that)! And he goes, oh is that Starbucks policy?
For you not to reach over the bar and fill your water? Come on dude.
I don’t know if it actually is but I don’t understand what gives people the idea that they can do things like that. Like would you reach over a TG fill a soda with the gun? No dude.

When I worked at Seattle’s Best Coffee, we had those constantly running spoon rinsers because we stirred every drink. I had a customer reach over the counter, grab a spoon, stir his half drank drink and put it back in our rinser. I was mad. He didn’t understand why it was gross and totally unsanitary.
Elven_maiden [OP] 14 points 3y ago
Right? Like you’d think common sense/ social norms would prevent people from reaching over or going behind the fucking bar, but NOPE. This lady did not give a SHIT.
lillyloveswriting 23 points 3y ago
Holy crap behind the bar??! That’s another level omg!!
Elven_maiden [OP] 16 points 3y ago
I know! The way our bar is shaped, there’s a little counter for guests to wait for their drinks to be made. It’s right across from where our blenders are, so it was super easy for her to just reach over, and I don’t like it at all lol.

I strictly DO NOT allow any non partners behind bar, except for emergencies. Iva had to step in the path of angry boyfriends (and then ex boyfriends) far too many times.
Elven_maiden [OP] 21 points 3y ago
Bro, if you’re gonna come at your S.O at their place of work, you’re a piece of poop like wow.
bigsaltything 9 points 3y ago
One specifically I had to escort out of the store. I told him he can't come back, even thougg I dont technically have the authority, but he doesnt know that.
colonade17 10 points 3y ago
If a customer did that I would have a conversation with her about how that was not ok, and if it ever happened again I would permanently ban her from the store.
Elven_maiden [OP] 3 points 3y ago
We were in a rush, there was really no time to talk to her. If it were me, I’d be too embarrassed/ ashamed to ever go to the same store again, but then again I’m not the type of person to go behind the counter of a place I don’t work at sooooo
colonade17 3 points 3y ago
I'm surprised your SSV or SM didn't have that conversation with this person. Someone needs to let her know this isn't ok.
Elven_maiden [OP] 3 points 3y ago
We were the only two on the floor lol
xxludosii 10 points 3y ago
I would’ve flipped my shit. People can just be so stupid sometimes and those customers that think they’re all entitled make me so angry. It’s really hard to be nice and positive when people like that come through
Elven_maiden [OP] 9 points 3y ago
I was s h o c k e d. And I couldn’t think of a polite way to say “get out” fast enough. By the time I said something, the damage had been done :’(
matchawhoretobs 4 points 3y ago
i’ve had a customer come behind the bar because he wanted to be “helpful” and get a carafe. i yelled at him real quick and he never tried that shit again. we also have a handwashing sink right at the end of our bar where it’s easy for customers to get to, the amount of times i’ve had to tell people to 1) not dump their fuckin coffee in there and 2) tell them there are sinks accessible in the bathroom and NOT the employees’ work area
BunniBunzzzzz 4 points 3y ago
what makes her think she has the right to go BEHIND THE BAR when she doesn't even work there?!
finkenstein_ 3 points 3y ago
I’ve seen my old SM actually put her hands on somebody trying to come behind the bar. She didn’t shove them or anything just like “Hold up, you are definitely not allowed back here.” It’s a serious safety issue to have a customer behind the line.
ivysmultiverse 3 points 3y ago
People really need to learn boundaries. I’m tired of itttt!!!
OrangeElvis 2 points 3y ago
So we have a straight line type bar where the register and bars are connected, but I cant stand idiot's that lean against the wall in our work space.. move the fuck back to where customer go , this is our work space area
ianbz 2 points 3y ago
Who in their right mind thinks that’s okay..
bubb1eb4th 1 points 3y ago
I work and live in Oregon where plastic straws are banned. A woman stuck her hand around the glass of the hot bar to grab a straw after I politely tried to stop her she said 'health codes are a fucking joke' ok 😓

This is great stuff 😂customers never cease to amaze us. We run a podcast that uncovers the truths behind the barista life and we'd love to feature this story on the show! Let us know if it sounds like something you'd be interested in and we'd love to set it up.
