Tarbux Barista Needs Advice Quick! (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by octarineglasses
Please help! I was signed up to go to the local barista championship, and was told it was in April. Surprise, it's next Wednesday! I've worked at my local Tarbux for a year now, and before that I worked at my college Starbucks and was even the student manager there for 3 years. So I thought I was in an ok place until I found out it was next week and I know nothing about the competition! I've looked on reddit, google, and youtube, but still don't know a lot.
I've asked my TL but he's given me no information, my friend is the one who told me it was next week.
Also my latte art is only mediocre.
Any advice is better than nothing!

You do a pour over session with some “judges” (usually SMs from the district), make drinks they ask you to in front of them. Latte art was only a small part. You can kinda BS it. I had a friend who made like a teddy bear face but it was mostly cute, not super skillful or anything. She ended up going on to the next level. The biggest thing is to be personable if you want to do well. This is just what I remember from going to one as a spectator. Lol
