New hire here & I work my first peak in 5 hours AT A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STORE send help (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by motheroftarantulas
So my manager asked me if I wanted to pick up a shift for the store 10 minutes down the road from ours. Since it’s off season and I’m lucky if I get 20 hours a week, of course I said yes. I’ve only been working at Starbucks for a month and just recently got my certified barista pin on Monday... so I’m having second thoughts about what I agreed to take on. Everyone I work with thinks I’ve got this (I tend to be hard on myself 99% of the time) and I’m hoping they’re right. It’s just weird that I’ll have to experience the chaos they tell stories about, “peak” at a different location with other people I’ve never met LET ALONE been in a working environment with..

Keep in mind I closed tonight with my manager and didn’t get home till 11. My shift starts at 7.

SO, if any of you have some tips for green bean’s first peak with no familiar faces, I’d really appreciate it. Sorry if this is all over the place. I’m just quite nervous due to the circumstances.

I did the same thing when I first got hired on, I would just recommend the following
1) Ask where they keep everything you need to know (lids, cups, beans, etc.) as they may have a different layout and locations for supplies.
2) Mention your freshness to the manager if they don’t already know; just so you’re not placed on solo bar or dto/dtr/warm.
3) Enjoy the new experience, it’s not often I work at other stores but I always enjoy a change of scenery and people once in a while.

Wish ya the best of luck, I’m sure it’ll be great!
