tall rant (self.starbucksbaristas)

tl;dr forgot someone’s pour over, they wouldn’t accept recovery card or apology. I feel forever guilty about it now.

280xxxx here, I just need to vent a second. So my SM was in back doing the count and I was on the floor was someone who it was their 2nd day. Needless to say I was doing bar, CS, and Front. I had a guy who was like 70 order a pour over (which I started) and amidst all of my tasks I was trying to do I forgot about it (usually we all team up and finish them whenever they’re dripping and we’re nearby). So we get a huge rush and the drink gets lost and the guy asks me about it. I say “I’ll go check on it” and i see that I completely forgot about it. I gave him a store recovery card and apologized profusely and he completely denied it rolling his eyes and shaking his head at me. He told me he didn’t want a pity card and that he was disappointed. So now I’m left finishing his pour over and he won’t accept my apology so I feel forever guilty. Ok end rant. Ugh.

similar thing happened to me last week. i took a shift at another store in my district and a regular from my store came in and ordered a dark pourover. i was on drive, and we had one person on front/brewing and one on drinks so it didn't cross my mind to babysit it. 15 minutes later, the regular says, aggressively, "bye! thanks! i never got my coffee" and stormed out as we offered recovery cards and to remake it. ☹️
