Personal cups, Covid-19, and regulars.(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ReEliseYT
It’s been 2 days since we stopped taking personal cups, and I’m already sick of hearing customers complaining about it. They still get their discount, they can pour their drink into their own cup, but you would think it was the end of the world based on people reactions. The regulars have been the worst, one started swearing at our manager and screaming at the end of the bar over it (they come in and yell about political nonsense and conspiracy theory’s every day so we’re use to just ignoring him but still)
It blows my mind how big of an issue people can make over the smallest little change. Has anyone else seen adult temper tantrums at their stores as well, or is the Starbucks I work at just surrounded by assholes?

Day 39 without personal or reusable cups, everyone has lost their minds, the customers have begun eating one another. I fear for the fate of our world. /s

Sweet, maybe they won't order as many pastries now 🤷♂️

Well they’re gonna need dessert
speedswagon27 points3y ago
Yeah, they do that one thing where they open their mouth and their eyes super wide and start looking around as if saying "is anyone else hearing this?"

we had a guy that was so rude about it today and it absolutely blows my mind. what happens in these grown ass adults minds where as soon as we say "hey we're taking a precaution to keep everybody healthy" they LOSE their shit and get so angry??? this dude was like "so you're still handling money which is going to spread germs even more but you can't have reusable cups" and we were just like Yep. i literally just work here dude please grow up

It's been the same with us as well. The kicker is that most of these people come through DT so we're already putting their drinks in paper cups anyway. My God, like, just say "okay" and get over it.

Some people get really testy about it for sure. I don’t understand, it’s a cup... it’s not like it’s gone forever. Please chill, if it’s an issue then please feel free to recycle your cups in the designated areas. Other customers take it as an opportunity to debate politics/health matters and I’m just standing here at the till like “oh yeah for sure, hAhaA right? That’s politics” as if I haven’t heard it 15 times in the past two hours already.

*Excuuuuuuse me* for tryna keep your dumb, nasty, no-hand-washing asses safe 🙄 sOoOoOoOo sorry it’s such an inconvenience that I have to put the milk in for you because we don’t have the carafes out to *prevent the spread of disease*.
Smh, how self-centered can you *be*? We’re doing *more work* so you can be *safe*.

So I haven't had any issues with customers being rude about it, they actually have been EXTREMELY understanding......that being said the issues I'm having is with my partners and the 30min hand washing. Mind you I am annoying with it because I truly agree hand washing is vital to keeping germs from spreading. BUT I am getting defiant baristas that are refusing to wash their hands until I literally am standing in their way treating them like a toddler yelling at them to wash their hands. At the end of arguing with everyone guess what......its been 30mins and I get to do it ALL OVER AGAIN!

Our store manager put a message into the headsets that continuously says wash your hands over and over, every 30 minutes. That is an option.

Our customers have been great really, it’s the partners that are killing me. They’re still refilling their water bottles, personal cups, and refilling used their own cups. This applies to us too and there’s no point in policing customers if we’re going to risk exposing people too.

People suck

My phone went off, for an amber alert. You know the sound it makes, sounds like a service alert. The second customer in line legitimately freaked out, interrupted the order I was taking, and said “it’s that DAMN CORONAVIRUS HUH?!”
No sir, someone’s child is missing. Let me wrap up with this woman; I’ll be with you.
“He’s right ya know! You need to go stock up!”

everyone saying “well I don’t have coronavirus” as a way to try and guilt us into using their cups. I’m sad I can’t bring my reusable cup either cause wow, that’s a lot of plastic waste I’m creating now, but it’s policy. if I let a regular do it then everyone will be like “well you let x do it”
