Happy Hour really is a bitch (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by dridfroot
So yesterday I worked the tail end of happy hour from 5 to closing. When I walked in, I felt like that one Community gif of Donald Glover walking into a room on fire.

Everything was a mess and I normally feel more anxious whenever I am around a messy environment but I just tried to get through it.

There was so many orders and I work in a major metropolitan area near a lot of hospitals so there's a lot of orders, especially through mobile. We had 3 people on bar and it still was taking a long time cause one of the machines was pulling shots that were too watery so we were down to 1 espresso machine. Added bonus of completely running out of coconut milk.

So my chipper ass was just getting through as many orders as possible. Then, one guy just spoiled my attitude. I called out his name and told him I was starting on his drinks, and he just said "fiNALLY" very exasperated. I internally rolled my eyes but I just kept going.

I finished one of his drinks and handed it off but the second one was a cold brew drink and I had to change the keg but this guy really was trying to rush me. I got the second drink done but whenever I handed it off, he said "50 minutes to wait for 2 drinks, longest time I ever had to wait for coffee."

I felt my blood boil. It's happy hour, people order through mobile cause they think it's faster but it's not. Then a lot of orders pile up and things were just not going in my favor. Luckily, my SM was with me and he said "have a great day" to him and he said to me that he was a jerk anyways.

People really don't understand that EVERYONE wants their free drink and they usually send 1 person to get 1700 drinks. There is notifications for the app that tells you whenever your drinks are done. Please, please jUST BE PATIENT. I had 70 people every 2 seconds I was near the handoff area ask me where their drink was.

I also had someone take someone else's drink from the bar which was fun to explain.

Needless to say, happy hour is horrible. People don't plan ahead. Everyone wants their fucking drink, Karen, calm the fuck down.

Dude I feel that. This reminds me of a reddit post I saw on Christmas where the baristas put a sign at the door to tell people how long the wait time is. It went from 10 mins to 20-30 and eventually 40 minutes. At that point why the hell would you go in to get a coffee
