I lost my voice completely but don’t have any sick days (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by izziedays
I’ve been working for about a month and a half so I can’t do anything by myself besides register and drive but I literally cannot communicate verbally. When I work bar I have to ask a lot of questions still to make sure I get it right. But I have no sick days yet. I don’t know what to do.

Dude if you’re sick then don’t go to work. Take a day or two off to rest. Not having sick days sucks but getting your fellow partners sick is worse

I don’t want to get fired

You don't need sick days to call out sick. BUT you can only use as much sick time as you've accumulated. i.e. you have 3 sick hours, but your shift is 8 hours. YES you can call out sick, BUT you can only get paid 3 sick hours for it.

EDIT: Above is corporate store policy. Licensed stores (target, kroger, etc) may have a different policy.

Okay thank you bc I really didn’t want to get fired or get in trouble for something completely out of my control

If they fire you while you’re out sick during all the madness that’s going around, take it in stride and move on. No reason to risk others getting sick, especially when you can’t help it and Tarbucks is trying to “take precautions” for it.
