Anonymous Reporting? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I told my SM about an issue I was having with a shift who seems to like making my life a living hell, and how I wasn't comfortable talking to them because I knew they would take it personally and have an even bigger vendetta against me. My SM then proceeds to bring the shift in the back to where we were talking and have me explain the problems I was having to said shift. I tried to frame it as constructive feedback (because they're a newer shift) but then it just ended up being the shift blaming me for everything. Needless to say, ever since that conversation, the shift has been even worse.

If you ask for some anonymity with the SM, are they allowed to just go ahead and tell the shift it was you? My SM does this every time someone has an issue with the shift that they need help resolving, and it usually just ends up making things worse. I don't even know what to do at this point, because if I tell my SM, the cycle is just going to continue.

Try to go above to your DM. New shifts get a taste of power and lose it. Your SM shouldn’t be bringing them back and forcing you to confront them like that. So try getting up with your district manager to see how they would handle the situation.

I would get out of the hierarchy altogether and call partner resources. A lot of SMs and DMs would love to handle complaints as simply as possible and just relay the information and hope for the best, rather than actually protecting the complainant/following the guidelines of discipline. But more importantly, if the shift has been worse since that conversation then that's retaliation and that's a fireable offense. Secondly, if you specifically asked the SM for anonymity and they obviously went against that, that seems super shady and requiring discipline as well.
