Me: *jacket on, about to go on a trash run before I leave for the day*

Rando man: You’re really about to go on break with this long line?

Me: *wondering who the hell this man is to ask me this* Excuse me?

Rando: You’re about to go on break with this huge line?

What I wanted to say: nah fam, not on break, I’m out this bitch

What I actually said: I’m just going on a trash run! :)))))

sir who tf are you to ask me this like???? For one I’ve been here for 8 hours and Do I even know you??? please kindly fuck off

Honestly, the way people act it makes me wish they could have a small taste of a busy weekend with low labor. And in reality it was one of our slower days with the weather. But slower day also means less labor ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
siriushendrix 6 points 3y ago
Yeah. Like let’s trade places with the customers for a day. And a few of us play the awesome regulars and the others play the Karen’s and annoying Steve’s (I’ve personally never met a good Steve so that’s why I chose that name)
spoopyboogie 4 points 3y ago
One of my favorite thing to do when I’m training new partners in beverage sequencing is to go out behind the bars and ask if my drink is ready like an annoying customer to prep them for that inevitably

I'd just say to the rando: if you think our store doesn't have enough labor scheduled then here's my SMs and DMs business card. You should talk to them.
ourldyofnoassumption 28 points 3y ago
This is a great answer. If enough complaints come from customers to head office can something be done to help the mishandling of schedules? You guys can’t say that but we can start a reddit campaign at least.
s_ingramsm [OP] 22 points 3y ago
Our DM doesn’t even let us give out her card anymore. One severely understaffed day in the summer (45 minute wait on drinks) they passed her card out to anyone who complained. Guess how many calls she got that day lol

The presumption in this angers me. Oh my god.
s_ingramsm [OP] 10 points 3y ago
I honestly I couldn’t tell if he was serious at first, but the fact that he said it twice really took me aback lmao. Like damn...you’re bold
GreenTourmaline13 3 points 3y ago
I hate him. He has no idea if your mgr sent you to get product, do trash, leave bcs labor cuts, whatever. He's literally saying he's more important than anything you might have to do, and that is so appalling
jenkoct12 3 points 3y ago
Apparently, this guy knows how to do the SM’s job better than anyone else. You should have given him the apron and said, “Nah, I’m going home, but you can take my place”.
cactuskirby 29 points 3y ago
not only is this entitled AF to ask, they also have no idea how businesses work! you are not scheduled 8am-rush die down, you are scheduled until a certain time and then take your leave even if it’s still busy, and let the others who just clocked in take care of things.

True
s_ingramsm [OP] 8 points 3y ago
Exactly! I always end up staying to help because I feel bad if I don’t. But not to mention you don’t know that person’s situation. I was scheduled to work my other job right after so I couldn’t have stayed much longer to help even if I wanted to. Either way though, I have a life outside of the siren
wandering_mind_ 15 points 3y ago
Uhhhh customer needs don’t dictate when an employee gets their rightful break, the law does. If someone’s on break, then let them be! People are ridiculous!
s_ingramsm [OP] 7 points 3y ago
And for him to feel entitled to ask makes it worse, especially because he was wrong. What makes it okay to ask a RANDOM STRANGER you do NOT KNOW what they are doing with their time? It took everything in me not to say “is that any of your business if I was”
Michigoose99 3 points 3y ago
If I'm on POS and told to take my ten and a customer starts placing an order, I say "sorry sir/ma'am, ive just been summoned to the back. X will be happy to take your order." I don't want to say "I'm going on my break" bc people get angry.
