No SSV (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by AdamAce3
I’m dead. I just finished the worst shift I’ve had since I’ve started. We had no SSV for about 6 hours. My manager left early and gave the keys to one of the baristas who, although has a bit of experienced, just came back from a few years break. He is not shift certified and seemed extremely stressed. We did have an ASN scheduled, but he was on his phone the whole time in the back playing clash or something. Didn’t do a pull. And left 4 hours early. So from 10:15-2 we have no shift. The floor was a mess. The warming fridge was empty. There was a line out the door the whole time. 4 baristas, on a 6 person floor. Out of almond milk and half the sandwiches. Rtd empty. No ones in my reg with no safe code. I wanted to scream. I got no 10s. Only a lunch after a shift finally came at 2. I’m exhausted. How can they do this to us? I like my manager, but sometimes corporate is too uptight about hours. I don’t know if I could handle something like that again.

im pretty sure what your manager did is against policy. ive been told the store can only be left without a shift or manager for 30 minutes(like if they go on lunch). im a shift and i dont even like to leave the store on my break to have a cigarette. i coudnt imagine leaving the store for that long of time. i would say something to your dm or id call the partner contact center and complain about it. by law they cant tell your manager it was you who complained. also im pretty sure managers hours dont count towards labor since their salary.

Where do I find the partner contact number? I don’t want to talk to the dm because she’s close friends with my manager

Call PCC if you’re not comfortable with the DM

i think this is it. i found it thru Google 866-504-7368. if thats not right it should be in the front of the records book. if its not let me know and ill ask my SM for you.

Definitely not okay. Please do you and your partners a favor and report it immediately. Get statements from other partners as well. That is not normal or allowed. 100% against policy.

As others have mentioned, after 30 mins with no SSV, you are required to escalate it up to District Manager. You literally pick up the phone and call the DM, if the SM doesn’t immediately sort it out.

When I hear how some store managers are running their stores making guests and partners suffer I get very very upset. None of that was okay! They really hung you out to dry.

Ohhhhh yeah contact your DM. Big no-no. As others have noted, the store can't be without a key-holder for longer than 30 minutes (due to breaks).

That’s against policies. Call you store manager and tell her

Company policy is that there must always be a SSV (or higher) in the store at all times. In many areas this is also required because you need someone in the building during business hours with health code certification.
