It does get a lot better after a couple months. During my first month I thought I’d never learn, and I’d feel terribly anxious during and after a busy shift. I’d have really bad back and neck pain as well. Then I started to build up confidence rather quickly after studying the drinks at home and just getting more practice. The pains went away as well. You will be fine as long as you put the effort in, and your coworkers will warm up to you too.
However, Starbucks is pretty high-stress regardless of your experience. So if after a few more weeks you still feel this bad, you might want to look at somewhere else to work. I wouldn’t risk my mental and physical health for this job.

How did you study at home? I feel like I still don’t know the ins and outs of CS. Also I am constantly messing up the cold bar. I want to go in and study the recipe cards while I’m off the clock. Some one mentioned taking pics of the food so I can get them out faster. And pics of the menu for register. We never ever have downtime. It’s the busiest store in the district so there hasn’t been time to take a breath and try to look around.

Let me first say that there is no requirement for you to study at home-- this is an hourly job and you should be paid for all training.
That said, obviously I'm on starbucks barista reddit in my free time so like do what you want.
I studied at home using the starbucks mobile app-- if you go to the order page, 1) it has all the drinks and pasteries with pictures, but also if you add any drinks to your cart, you can see the standard recipe, and therefore test yourself on number of pumps and espresso shots etc that way.

Oh thank you! I will try that. I don’t have a problem familiarizing myself outside of work hours so that when I’m there it’s not a nightmare.

Along with the Starbucks app, download Quizlet, there are tons of flashcard sets on there that people make with all the drinks and their ingredients. Also if you search this sub and the starbucks sub there are a few really good study guides/cheat sheets.

Thanks. I went on the app and it was a bit cumbersome. There’s things I can’t remember for fraps like which ones have whip inside the cup and what toppings go on top or which ones don’t have whip etc.

How in the heck could you have been more proactive with finding coverage? You posted about getting coverage the night before! Also when you're sick it's only a curtesy to find coverage for your shift, it's not required.

I’m 6 months in and still slip up, it gets reasonably better. Your sm shouldn’t get mad at you for calling out sick with no coverage, it technically is they’re job to find coverage for you. Don’t let starbucks’ management get to you. We all got our beef with the sirens.
