LMAOO im shoving it in my mouth and burning myself with the potatoes on the 9th minute
xiew 40 points 3y ago
Just throw it in 5 minutes before you go on your 10 (or have someone start it for you) and then leave it on counter underneath oven (ambient heat keeps from going cold just in case) until you take your 10
Tidal_wavves 32 points 3y ago
But you don’t always know when you’re gonna be able to take your 10 :(((
kqs13 11 points 3y ago
As a supervisor, I usually try to give breaks right in the middle of your shift. Sometimes it will be a little earlier or later just depending when others are leaving or coming in, or depending how busy it is, but that's what I try to aim for! I would say dont ask unless you are like really hungry or tired or something, because it could be a little frustrating, since I'm trying my best to make sure we have enough floor coverage but also give tens when people need it.
Tidal_wavves 7 points 3y ago
I agree completely, a lot of my partners actually prefer the breaks being later in their shift so they don’t have a whole lot of time left when they come back so I do my best to cater to their preferences but I have this one partner who will literally come up to me out of nowhere when we have like 3 people on the floor and be like “can I take my 10 now?” And I’m like ??? In what world do you think now is a good time lol
kqs13 3 points 3y ago
Same, most of my partners like their tens a bit later too! My partners are pretty great about not asking and they know when it's too busy, but yeah theres one specific person that asks almost every shift and it's frustrating! I'm like, my answer will be the same as all the other days!
xiew 4 points 3y ago
Ask your shift! I always take barista requests into consideration and try to make the floor run as smoothly as possible. Just ask for a couple minute heads up.
Tidal_wavves 4 points 3y ago
I am a shift tbh so /I/ always know when I’m going on my 10 but
A. My biggest pet peeve is when people ask me when their 10 is because sometimes I just don’t know when exactly it’s going to be and a lot of the barista at my store are particularly rude about getting their 10s when THEY are ready instead of when we have the coverage for it and
B. More often than not, 10s come when we can fit them in at my store, we aren’t usually able to actually give them when the DCR has them scheduled for and there often times isnt time to tell them in advance unfortunately but I try to tell partners when I can.
But I wouldn’t encourage baristas to ask their shift about their breaks unless it’s for like a serious reason cause every supervisor I had when I was a barista and every shift I’ve met since has said they get annoyed when people ask them lol
xiew 6 points 3y ago
Oh the dcr planned breaks are usually garbage. It’s good for a general idea so I’ll sometimes tell them to go check and tell them it will be roughly around there
lewabwee 3 points 3y ago
I never ever look at the DCR for when to do breaks. I just know pretty much all my baristas prefer them earlier and that’s just fine because I don’t want to do my lunch until after I do the pull and money.

I’m also a closer though. Even when I’m a mid I find it a lot harder to time breaks so well. Sometimes you’re just busy and too bad I guess. Lunches are one thing but we’re lucky we get breaks at all/ever.
always_hungryy 1 points 3y ago
You could try asking your shift to give you a heads up or to give you a general window at the begging of the shift. Things don’t always go to plan but we usually have one.
s197-98 1 points 3y ago
I don’t know if you have an Dwight at your store, but around him you try to make your own drink let alone ask for one while on the floor, that dude will run straight to whatever shift is around...
xiew 1 points 3y ago
When I’m running the floor and I send someone on their break and they ask if they can make their drink I usually let them before they go off the floor cause it gets them back on the floor faster
rosallia 30 points 3y ago
Cut it in half guys!!
JonFawkes3 10 points 3y ago
We cut it in thirds and it was still hot as balls. Best to let it sit for a few minutes while cut tbh.
rosallia 7 points 3y ago
Shit is hot as hell. I had came a lil late (still early) for my shift at 6am. I had 10 minutes to eat the damn thing and I did. Letting it air out is the only thing you can do lmao
JonFawkes3 3 points 3y ago
For real lmao
maryhooy 2 points 3y ago
Yes! I like to cut in half before I warm it then I take it out 30 minutes so it’s not too hot but that’s just me and another partner said it was a great idea!!:)
VectoredClarinet 24 points 3y ago
I did it last Sunday...they are very underwhelming
offbrandjomarch [OP] 31 points 3y ago
like it’s too fuckn hot to even enjoy it and the potatoes came straight outta hellfire to obliterate my mouth
elodieme1 8 points 3y ago
Mix some cream cheese and Sriracha and spread it in the wrap it's bomb
kqs13 6 points 3y ago
With avocado spread they are a bit better!
s_ingramsm 13 points 3y ago
I find it more funny that I KNEW that’s what you would say when I saw this in my feed. I’m glad I’m not the only one to suffer
offbrandjomarch [OP] 9 points 3y ago
hashaFashashafah
gabnormal 11 points 3y ago
Wow I'm currently doing that right now! I also made it like 10 minutes ago AND cut it in half to sit.
thedeadwillwalk 7 points 3y ago
I can eat half of one.
offbrandjomarch [OP] 8 points 3y ago
On a ten I can eat 1/4 of it but on my lunch i SCARF that bitch cause I open so I always take my lunch at 5:30 or else I’d starve the rest of the day :,)
99Poppies 7 points 3y ago
I feel that in my soul w the southwest wrap. It’s so good tho!
rlane1990 6 points 3y ago
I find it crazy that you are only given a 10. Is that a US policy? in Canada we get 15s.
Tidal_wavves 6 points 3y ago
The job I had before this didn’t get breaks at all so I’m thankful for my 10 lol
offbrandjomarch [OP] 5 points 3y ago
Idk if it’s a San Antonio thing, every other job I’ve had I got a 15. We also have to wear hats and I’ve been to other Starbucks (like in Austin for ex) and even see our own content (training videos/images) where partners aren’t wearing hats
nofoam_cappuccino 3 points 3y ago
We get 15s in Maryland
crzyshiba 3 points 3y ago
I agree every other job I had it’s 15 min this is the only job that gives me 10
nerd_entangled 4 points 3y ago
Take my upvote good sir, your post made me snort.
offbrandjomarch [OP] 3 points 3y ago
I’m a lady but thanx
nerd_entangled 1 points 3y ago
Aah, my apologies Madame. Have a good day, and may you never hashafashasha on your wrap.
offbrandjomarch [OP] 1 points 3y ago
man fuck the wraps I’m over it!!!!
Eman_barista 4 points 3y ago
I put it in the freezer 😅
AbusedCho 3 points 3y ago
Grab a knife or a stir stick, push it down the middle to create a hole. It will allow the hot air to come out so by the time you reach halfway it should be cooled enough to eat.
Nigee_Ogee 2 points 3y ago
Lol who actually takes a ten, I take a 15 fuck that lol.
offbrandjomarch [OP] 4 points 3y ago
I mean most of the time I take a 12 but I’m no snitch
Nigee_Ogee 1 points 3y ago
😂😂 high five!
RaptorSwaggor 2 points 3y ago
The trick is to slide into warming before your 10 and be THAT guy so it's cool by the time your 10 starts. Idk I don't eat while I'm at work but it sounds like that might be the most reasonable way to not burn your mouth.
PrettySax3 1 points 3y ago
I only cook mine for 1 minute, doesn't crisp tf out of the tortilla and it's a super pleasant warm and not too hot temp
PlatinumPetey 1 points 3y ago
Name an extreme sport
wellguesswhatpumpkin 1 points 3y ago
I usually heat it up 10 minutes before my break
