iced no ice ::::::::,,,))))) (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by allthesedamnthots
gmorning everyone, do we actually have a policy against iced no ice, side cup of ice because most every drink is that nowadays and it’s a waste of time and resources and it’s genuinely frustrating and gluttonous :D. sorry if i sounds evil (it’s cuz i’m evil)

I really think Bux should start charging more if people want to try to cheat the system. A Trenta Mango Dragonfruit with no water and no ice? Cool, would you rather just buy a box of refresher base? Cause I wish we could do that too.
the_lady_flame 19 points 3y ago
tragically no 😔😔😔 I wish though, obvs it doesn't really affect me I just find it Annoying lol
Purge_Dreams 5 points 3y ago
It actually doss affect you though, if the store you're working at doesnt make enough money often time (stupidly) our hours are the first thing to get cut. People trying to cheat the system fuck us over too.

i’m not sure.

the way i wish it was, though?

Karen’s daughter McKlenleigh orders her grande pink drink with no ice. So in the shaker goes SAR base to the first line, coconut milk to the milk line, a scoop of berries, and no ice of course. And if the cup is only half full due to the lack of ice, then so be it. Oh, the drink looks really separated and kinda gross? Yeah, that’s how it looks when there’s no ice to homogenize the drink. No extra drink for you. Karen demands that I fill the cup completely. I say no, unfortunately due to the standard policy I cannot do that or I could face termination!

Either that, or the “no ice” button automatically adds 75¢-$1 extra charge. Maybe even more. $2. What the heck. Either that, or it just charges you the same price as a larger size, so either way you’re paying for the same amount of liquid.

If only the siren could hear my prayers.

for those annoying refresher. girls i do bade to the infusion line and water the rest. it’s what they ask fore :)
ilovebrandonj 1 points 3y ago
Dude policy is to never serve a cup that’s not full unless they ask for room. If that means more milk then do more milk, but we’re not allowed to not fill the cup up according to policy.

i know?? i’ve been a barista for literal years??? all i’m doing is complaining and being annoyed just like pretty much every other barista that’s ever worked for the bux. there are always little things about “”””policy”””” that rub everyone the wrong way. do we put up with it and still do our job? yes. that’s why we come to reddit to complain.

it’s really not that deep, my man. we’re all fighting the same useless, endless battle against the Karens of the world. just let me live and complain about “no ice” people. please. jfc.
ilovebrandonj 6 points 3y ago
No I totally get it, it’s freaking annoying! I was just replying to this part

> And if the cup is only half full due to the lack of ice, then so be it

I think we should charge more for no ice. It’s crazy. A lot of other coffee shops do an up charge for no ice so I don’t get why Starbucks won’t
round_or_profound 7 points 3y ago
My manager has instructed us to put in the POS extra of everything. For example, hit extra acai base, extra scoop strawberries, extra coconut milk. It creates a slight up charge I think and also will account for the product loss in the system. Because of the amount of ones we make we kept running out half way through so I guess hitting extra of everything helps keep up with inventory in the system.
OriginalJokeGoesHere 13 points 3y ago
Are you licensed? I don't think the corporate computers charge more for extra of things already in the drink
_retail_bitch_ 1 points 3y ago
I’m at a licensed and we’re not supposed to charge more if it’s already in there. However, they may have a store thing (or maybe it’s just them) where they charge extra due to using so much extra product.

How is it a waste of time and resources? I don't understand why partners have such a hard time with no ice drinks. As long as it's being rung in correctly along with the cup of ice on the side what does it matter to you? Partners don't pay for the juices out of pocket, and if you're going thru it fast your SSVs or SMs should be ordering them daily.
GoldTurds- 11 points 3y ago
Some stores get orders once a week.
kylakat13 6 points 3y ago
Because it's annoying to have to constantly restock the fridges *and* FIFO them during a rush? I don't know about other stores, but mine certainly doesn't have enough partners for us to have someone run to the back to grab more boxes as frequently as I need them. I'm constantly left with fridges that have one or two strawberry refresher boxes in it. And it's literally all because of the "Trenta no water, no ice" people that constantly roll through.
KarluhO -7 points 3y ago
That's what front stock was made for so, that your CS ISN'T running to the back room for things during peak.
kylakat13 3 points 3y ago
Our store is small so we have no place to put refresher boxes other than the back. We literally only have room for cups, lids, and inclusions.
deprellis 1 points 3y ago
1. Inventory inaccuracies
2. When cheats are used to ring in drinks that could be more money, be multiple drinks, iced latte hacks, etc, it ends up totalling less labor. Less labor=less labor hours=less weekly hours for partners+ unerstaffed , bad working conditions
KarluhO 0 points 3y ago
How? If you ring in a refresher with no water no ice and a cup of ice on the side everything is being accounted for...? It's still 2 "drinks" being added into the system. Hence the "next drink" button. No matter what it is...
Momisnotmyname 2 points 3y ago
We are a weekly shipment region. We regularly run shortages of high volume items; White mocha, strawberry refresher base, Venti/trenta iced cups.

We constantly have to stop selling things or limit items because of this
_retail_bitch_ 2 points 3y ago
We run out of açaí base on a weekly basis because almost everyone who gets a refresher/pink drink or whatever gets light or no ice and it totally screws over our inventories
kawaiicupcake1989 2 points 3y ago
It is soooo annoying.
Thankfully I'm at a Tarbucks, we do upcharge for no ice drinks. We have an "add juice" button that we use for those. We've be using it for a few years. We did have 1 Karen complain about it. After I explained why we did it , she was still very angry about the $0.80 upcharge. I just shrugged and said sorry we have to account for the inventory. She has not been back, which is fine by me 🙄
