when leaving the company can I cashout my sick and time off? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by donalson
after nearly 4 years it's getting nearly time to move on... I've got a good bit of sick time and a bit of vacation time accrued ...

as I understand it on my last check they'll payout whatever vacation time I have but I've been told some different things about the sick time, will that be paid out or is it a use it or lose it situation?

thanks

You still have to write it in the book. You can’t go into overtime with it so if you work 30 hours both weeks then you can use 20 hours of vacation time that pay period. Sick time isn’t given out by policy, but some SMs will cash it out, mine did.

Not sick time, just vacation time.

It’s their option but not at all required by law. My SM allowed someone that gave a couple weeks notice to max out their sick hours to 40 every week before they left so it doesn’t hurt to ask.
