TL;DR - what do you tell someone that orders a triple espresso with extra steamed milk in a tall cup, then asks you to fill it all the way up?
This guy walked in and ordered a triple espresso, one pump cinnamon dolce, and steamed breve - but he made sure to tell me that he was paying for the steamed breve. Then he asked for it in a tall cup.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but if you just order some espresso, by default in comes in a short cup right? So it is sized for a short cup, because you can’t pick the size of the cup when it’s just espresso. We can only give you the amount of drink for the short cup but you can ask us to put that SAME amount in the tall cup.
My shift made this drink herself, put it all in a short cup and since he paid for the extra milk we filled the half and half to the top of the SHORT cup, which is what he paid for.
He comes over and tells her he wanted it in a tall cup, so she grabs a tall cup, pours the contents from the short cup into the tall one, tries to lid it but before she can the dude tries to go off on her saying that we owe him more steamed half and half and how since he paid for the breve it should be filled to the top of the TALL cup. He tried to get all technical with the rules, basically trying to tell us what OUR stores policy is which was just straight bullshit, my shift cut him off and just filled the rest of the cup with half and half to shut him up so he’d leave.
We rang it up as a tall latte just to see and the total came to $6.66 - he only paid like four something dollars. I asked around and was told that just giving him what he wants is right but it’s fucking bullshit. If you were gonna be this fuckin cheap then make this shit at home it’s even cheaper, stop coming into harass us.
I know that him paying less for that latte doesn’t necessarily make or break my paycheck, but shit like this is what’s affecting our hours - which in turn gets us a smaller paycheck so in a way he’s still fucking me over. I’m still pissed I’m sorry. People shouldn’t be able to get away with this.
