Something that you had no idea about Starbucks until you started working there? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by nilrehsttam
For me, I didn't realize that people feed their entire families Starbucks for dinner. People pulling up in minivans with their children in the evening will get breakfast sandwiches, frappechinos, and everything else and end up paying like $40-$50 for their transaction. Susan go to McDonald's it's way cheaper and the sandwiches probably taste better..

“It’s healthier,” yeah those pumps of sugar are super healthy...

when you get someone that orders skinny mocha then adds syrup and whole milk
Ziaheart 3 points 3y ago
Wait, what? What makes it skinny, then?
nilrehsttam [OP] 2 points 3y ago
I guess the skinny mocha but that thang isn't skinny no more 😂

I love when i get White Mocha - Stevia like what are you doing adding 1 packet of stevia to your five pumps of wm?? Do you like the taste??
luvloping 9 points 3y ago
The amount of calories people are willing to drink, (that nonfat milk in that Venti 12 pump white mocha frapp really made it more “healthy”)

The amount of money people are willing to spend on a protein box consisting of eggs and cheese ( I can make the same thing at my own house for like .35 cents)

People actuallly eat starbucks food, ALOT

The display case is real food, do the math, starbucks loses millions every year on the display case alone.

You’d think it’d be cheaper/sustainable to use realistic plastic food but nah let’s waste all this money + 30 minutes of labor every single day.
nilrehsttam [OP] 2 points 3y ago
Never understood why this isn't done. Or just like images with all the nutritional information describing each food item

* That caffeine addiction is a real thing
* That sugar and carb addiction is a real thing
* That frappuccinos/clouds are such a pain to make

Honestly, how many regulars are getting venti caramel macchiatos/mochas/frapps on a daily basis. Not just the money they spend every day, but the amount of sugar they're consuming first thing in the morning. We have a regular that gets a venti caramel ribbon crunch and a breakfast sandwich each morning, which comes out to something like ~1200 calories and 90-100g of sugar! I just... every single morning?!

I looked on the app the nutritional facts. A venti toasted white mocha frapp has 91 grams of sugar. 91!!! Ill stick with my espresso shots.
nilrehsttam [OP] 1 points 3y ago
Yeah I agree with this one it is pretty crazy
LemonRoyalSun 5 points 3y ago
That my drink was literally 5% caffeine, 20% syrup, and 75% milk. I mean, I knew what went into lattes, but making it actually made me see that I was spending $6 for a cup of sugar milk. Now I just slam shots.
I_love_you_drugs 3 points 3y ago
One of the worst realizations, tbh. These people just loooove coffee flavored milk.
Beverice2 2 points 3y ago
Shots over ice is where it’s at. Then use condiment bar milk :^) (no idea if this is “allowed” but no one pays attention to the condiment bar, we’re too busy)

The huge amount of wasted food and coffee in the name of freshness.

Bending over backwards for nasty, awful, lying customers and subsidizing it by overcharging the rest.
EvenTheKitchenSink 3 points 3y ago
I also didn’t know some crazies be out here ordering a whole meal at Starbucks like it’s nothing(let’s just be honest McDonald’s has better breakfast sandwiches)
Also I used to think customers got the food from the case... I still feel super dumb.

- All the food is frozen.
- The cookies will catch fire.
- How irritating it is when they ask for a "frappe"
nilrehsttam [OP] 1 points 3y ago
I'll be honest I think I'm the only barista that doesn't care when people call it a frappe. It's like calling the sizes small medium and large to me
BreannaLyne 1 points 3y ago
I don't care what you call the sizes as long as we're on the same page and it doesn't have to be remade.

The frappe didn't bother me until they beat it into me.
