Grande rant :( (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by c_azzimiei
About a week ago I was working a closing shift with an SSV who knew he wasn’t feeling well, and started throwing up in the middle of his shift. We closed early but he continued to handle food and stand close to me/handle the same things I was touching. I am now extremely sick and have had to miss 3 days of school (I came in today to take a test and feel like death) as well as call off work for my scheduled shifts. I’m so mad when people come in knowing that they’re sick, and even angrier than corporate makes people feel like they have to come in regardless. I am genuinely worried for our baristas and customers, especially those with compromised immune systems, during the coronavirus outbreak. Please, corporate, be more strict about sick policies and make sure no one is ever punished for staying home when sick, and that anyone affected by coronavirus is able to take paid days off.

That’s what our sick hours are for!! If your manager isn’t letting partners utilize them that’s what PRC is for 🤷‍♀️

My manager is actually very struct about making us stay home when sick and I’m 99% sure the SSV had enough sick hours to miss that shift. This was a case of plain stupidity and stubbornness. I’m more concerned for partners whose managers aren’t following company policy about sick time and partners who don’t have sick hours accumulated.

That’s when you need to let your SM know that the SSV is coming in sick. We all need to make an effort in communication when you know something isn’t right.

When I started a month ago I came down with a cold that lasted 10 days. Then on Saturday I had a fever and I was throwing up. I’ve never been sick this much in my life.
