Recommendations on emailing a complaint on my manager (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by MaddyIDaddy
Hi! I’m in need of some advice. I’m currently trying to write up an email to send to my regional manager about my store manager. He is just very rude and makes the work environment stressful and depressing. I actually had put in a transfer request and it was delayed four months due to people quitting over this manager, so I was going to go to a store that hired instead of waiting for me (understandable) and go from 35+ weeks to 10-20. I cancelled my request and now he clearly treats me different over that. Another girl put a request at a store 6 hours away to move with her family. He gave her a write up over “her stripes on her shirt were too thick and not apart of dress code,” so she couldn’t transfer right away.

Just another example, I work at a frequented third place customer store. An incident occurred where a man threatened to kill me because he was asking for money at the drive thru window. My manager was upset, not over what had happened, but that he had to make calls over it and told me stay on DTR while the third place customer was outside. I was allowed to go home, thanks to my regional manager. I asked for someone to walk with me to my car since the man was outside and the manager told me that he “needed everyone on the floor that wants to be there.”

There are many more examples I’ll include in the email. I’m just giving you an idea of what my coworkers and I deal with. I just don’t know how to go about writing the email without it looking like I’m just complaining that I don’t like him.

Probably cite retaliation over trying to transfer and feeling unsafe in the workplace? Both are incredibly serious, and your DM will have to respond. Especially your SM dealing with someone outside of the store who’s threatening your life, and then making you walk out to your car unaccompanied. Wouldn’t hurt to call PCC too🤷🏻‍♀️ Good luck with everything!!
