Just as a disclaimer I’m leaving starbucks anyway because I resent this whole company for a lot of reasons. I do know my views in this post might differ from a lot of you and that’s okay. I just need to blow off steam.

Also for some context, our state’s entire school system is shut down for two weeks and our neighboring county is in a state of lockdown with only essential businesses like food stores and pharmacies being able to stay open.

My manager just sent a message to our work groupchat justifying our districts decision to stay open during this outbreak of the corona virus. She basically said that because of starbucks being a thirdplace, they don’t want to let customers down. Also that they are balancing the needs of customers and partners. Are you kidding me? First off, just come out and say you don’t want to lose money and save us all the bullshit. Secondly, how dare you even group the needs of customers getting their overpriced coffee everyday to the health and safety of the community and partners.

This is not some small business that would tank if they were to close for a few weeks. This decision is so careless and disgusting. Starbuck does not care at all about their employees and I’m so tired of them pretending that they do. I am just so happy to be leaving such a bullshit company like this.
