Starbucks Baristas: The daily grind

As guests, we need to STAY HOME so stores can financially justify closing and *hopefully* paying baristas some emergency pay (self.starbucksbaristas)

If you continue giving high business to the store, the store won't just up and close out of concern for worker or customer safety. If we as customers put our foot down and say that we will make a huge dent in the business, starbucks might shut down some stores.Of course, they will claim it is due to safety, but really it's all about money.

This PLEASE. I'm at a cafe only store and it was fucking crowded like a normal Saturday today. The lobby was literally filled up and there was a huge rush during peak. I wanted to cry because I knew that there was no way that my store would be closing or doing anything more for us. We haven't even taken the carafes or anything else away from the condiment bar. Literally all we're doing is sanitizing and not taking personal cups. And guess what? There are multiple cases in the towns surrounding the one my store is in. And I'm in Illinois, the state that has all schools closed. And still nothing. All of the customers aren't even close to being concerned.

Stores are supposed to be implementing “grab n go”.

They’re removing entire condiment bars, drip is being rerouted to Bar and cashiers wear gloves

Similar situation, but I'm in Dallas, where there are multiple cases within the same city.

Who’s gonna pay my rent? they’re not gonna pay me. They’re gonna pay us only if we get sick.

That’s why I included emergency pay, this is a dire situation and the govt should incentivize sending employees home with their shifts being paid for. If Disneyland can do it, it’s certainly possible.

Won't happen. Government will happily hand out an emergency employee payroll text credit to help business owners and the fed will loan 1.5 Trillion to keep the the markets up. But, working class Jack and Jill won't see a penny. They'll be going to work sick because they can't miss a day of pay.

That said I appreciate the sentiment.

Also, fyi Disney shut down the parks but they have plenty of employees still going to work at packed hotels and resorts that have not been shut down and are still full of vacationers. (Got a friend working there right now)

Fuck me mate I’m getting out of mine asap

Not true. If Starbucks closes due to out of control circumstances,we will get catastrophe pay. This is directly from my DM.
RawRawrDino 1 points 3y ago
Nope. My store closed for a month and a half for renovations and never paid anyone. You could occasional pick up shifts at the stores an hour away from our store. Don’t see them paying if it closes for a month for the virus
gaayrat 8 points 3y ago
Please say this again and again! I really think it’ll take customers making a big deal of this for them to actually close stores
whatismineisyours 6 points 3y ago
Unless one of my coworkers gets sick with coronavirus we will not get any pay if we close...so yay us.

I really feel like Kevin Johnson is so greedy he wouldn’t pay their time off.

Having promoted to customer and appreciating the customer side of Starbucks, this is something I'm fighting in myself. I WANT to go.

I WON'T, but damn I want to. This is a most unusual sensation. The struggle is real, hopefully others will follow suit.
