"this drink was made wrong?" "is this drink mine?" (self.starbucksbaristas)

amidst the hysteria over COVID-19 right now, i would say our store was relatively slow today, although many mobile orders came in orders of 3+ drinks because people didnt want to leave their house a lot so our mobile order tray was full like all day.

a woman came in and ordered a hot cappuccino, and the immediately after paying went over to the mobile order tray to move every drink around trying to find hers, eventually landing on a honey cf ncb with a completely different naming, handing it to me (while i was making her drink) and told me not only did i get her name wrong that also wasnt what she ordered.

so i proceeded to tell her that was not her drink and she angrily put it back only to pick up a iced coffee sitting at the handoff area and tell me that was also not her drink.

i will say i normally dont respond like this to this situation, but i was so annoyed that i went "maam your name is ____ and you did order a hot drink correct?" and she was like oh yes of course and smiled at me before sitting down to wait for me to finish her cappuccino.

i truly do not understand sone people.

I would’ve done the exact same thing. People are insane. I had someone get legitimately upset and huffy because she drank out of her coffee and then wanted it was topped off with almond milk and I said I could pour a little in a cup for her and she could pour it in herself at the condiment bar. But she was SHOCKED that we would ask HER to pour HER milk. Ma’am, amidst all this chaos would you be upset to watch us put our milk carton anywhere near a drink that someone else had already drank from? Probably.

oh i know! people just are not understanding that its our JOB to take these precautions! i had a customer come in with a personal cup today and i greeted him and started to say while i cant use his cup i can give the discount, he cut me off and snapped that its completely ridiculous that we cant use his cup if he doesnt have corona and he only brought it in so he could pour his own coffee into it. like have these grown adults never had a job before? do they not realize i cant break the rule for just him?

And then you don’t want to have to argue and say, “Just because you don’t think you don’t have it, doesn’t guarantee you don’t.” Because I’m so sick of people using this as their excuse for us to still use their cup. Sorry, discount is still applied, we’re just not risking it. No exceptions. Like you said, there’s grown adults having hissy fits over that and I don’t understand in the slightest.

its so frustrating, like at least if it was a kid or even a teenager i would kinda write it off and just not knowing better but 90% of these people complaining are our older regulars who just get plain black coffee

I felt this in my skeleton bruh this shit is unacceptable. There’s no way these FULL GROWN ADULTS could be making these mistakes right? Wrong! It’s almost always adults, and when a kid asks if it’s theirs it usually is and they mostly will point to it instead of picking it up to examine it (in my experience with this)
