Hey folks. Starbucks is only taking half-measures to reduce customer interactions with each other. They're still exposing their staff to hundreds of people every shift and those baristas are likely heavily involved in spreading covid 19 before showing symptoms. Whole countries are closing down all nonessential services. Why the hell are we still open? Please call the customer line and ask them why they're still exposing their staff to this. I did and addressed all of the talking-points that the customer service rep was given. She was literally speechless. Had no argument because she couldn't just say "corporate still wants to make money." It's pathetic. Here's the number: +1 800-782-7282

They're staying open because they want to make money.

Spoke to a lovely girl named melissa on the customer line:

Me: just wondering why you aren't taking proper measures to protect your staff and help limit the spread of covid 19 since closing cafes is only a half-measure that slightly reduces chance-of-contact for customers and does nothing for the staff.

Melissa: "We are taking measures"

Me: oh yeah? Which ones?
Melissa: mall stores have closed

Me: what about the other stores?

Melissa: they've switched to drive through only

Me: all of the stores near me are still taking walk ins and despite that the baristas are still handling cash and cards from customers which is needlessly contributing to spreading a pandemic-level virus. Governments are urging businesses to close and people to self-quarantine to ensure our already-overburdened healthcare system can manage. So why is this company letting their staff interact with hundreds of customers everyday all of whom are potentially spreading this virus?

Melissa: *silence* uh....

Me: i recognize that this isn't your fault but just want to make sure this point gets across. Have a lovely day.

I work in a district with a mall store and the mall store employees have supposedly been calling every store in the district to find hours because they’re not being paid. So I’d assume no.

Tell all your friends, sure. But don't let it trace back to you. Cover your own ass.
