i have asthma and they won’t let me call out (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by libbythebard
so i have asthma which means if i get sick i guarantee it will have lasting effects on my lungs but my asm said that unless i’m showing symptoms or have a doctor’s note i can’t call out for no reason... i tried getting a doctor’s note from my lung doctor but they said basically the same thing: that they won’t write one unless i’m showing symptoms. i can try to get my shifts covered myself but i can tell you with 100% certainty that none of my coworkers would take my shifts right now if i’m the one asking. what do i do?

Call PCC
Goth_2_Boss 3 points 3y ago
I called PCC (also have asthma), store is between a hospital and a university with a like 40% international student base, store doesn’t even have gloves or anything. Applied for catastrophe pay and called back to pcc because I was anxious that my SM had started pressuring me to go to work and not apply for catastrophe by sending me rude texts.

Second call to PCC she tried to tell me “store managers are going through a lot.” No, the fucker is in there trying to get around the state mandated closure or bars and restaurants so the store stays open. Fuck everything about this.

The store manager makes enough money to go without two weeks pay. We dont.

What...why do they need proof?? I’ve never worked a job that requires a doctors note when you called out sick. Are they threatening to fire you or write you up if you do call out without a note ?

they didn’t threaten anything but he said i can’t call out with no reason :/

*gives reason* sorry but that’s not a reason to us.

A global pandemic not reason enough?

Could you wear a mask to protect yourself?
libbythebard [OP] 3 points 3y ago
masks don’t actually protect from the virus, the virus is too small
