Starbucks needs to close their stores while still paying us. It’s disgusting that we are on the front lines spreading germs around and as I’m reading a lot of posts on here, people are getting sick. If they don’t release us WITH PAY I think we should walkout. This greedy corporation is not going to listen unless we make them.

I think I washed my hands about 20 times for a 4 hr shift. Not even exaggerating.

My hands get more and more dry every hour!

People will die and others will be permanently disabled due to these half-measures. My Company, my Country, and my State are in a contest to see who can screw this up worst. No adults in the room. Children running that show.

In the past two weeks, 5 of us have gotten sick (not covid19 but other respiratory infections that still knocked us out for days). There’s a confirmed case in the next town over, and we aren’t moving the furniture until tomorrow so “our customers are prepared and we don’t feel unwelcome”

Wow. Literally wow. I’m shaking my head as I read this. I thought that every store has already moved furniture. That is ridiculous. If Starbucks really prides itself in being an ethical company then they need to act like it.
There is a girl at my store that’s sick. Also not confirmed covid19 but I think that it’s perfectly reasonable to be concerned as this is how the virus spreads.

Not only are we not closed but managers are having to ask partners to cover shifts for other sick partners. AND they’re still pushing customer connection numbers??? Saying that we should be welcoming and appreciative to our customers? Obviously we should not be rude, but why on earth should we be WELCOMING people who shouldn’t be out?
Staying open is just blatantly inviting customers to come. Which goes against anything the government is saying.
Also there’s a lot of locally owned small coffee shops who CANNOT afford to close. If someone is in dire need of a latte, Starbucks being closed would direct traffic to smaller businesses who are struggling (especially in my city, Nashville, that just experienced a tornado and lots of small businesses are struggling).
Ultimately, Starbucks can afford to close with pay. Lattes are not a necessity to life. Not only would they be doing their partners a justice, but they would be contributing in a way that smaller businesses simply can’t.

I woke up with a sore throat and the sniffles yesterday. I have been told not to come into work. I am worried that I might have spread this to my peers and customers. The time to walk out is now.
